Race 1
YANNAKIS is much better than his last start. He returns from a 15-week break which may have done him the world of good. His first two career outings when finishing third were encouraging. Richard Fourie rides on his return which is encouraging. He meets the right field and if suited to the polytrack, he can shed his maiden tag.
TEEREX set the pace over 1400m last time, but was outrun late. The drop to 1200m is a slight concern, but he is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.
MOUNT MERU’S last three starts have been fair. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba which will help his chances. The 5yo gelding can finish in the placings.
Race 2
JOSEPHINE’S PRIDE rallied late when second in his last start over 1700m on this course. The drop to 1600m should not pose a concern. Richard Fourie retains the ride and he can go one better.
SCAMPTON has fair form lines to his credit. He raced from a handy position last time, but found one too good in the form of Few Dollars More. He jumps from a handy draw of five and can feature.
MAGIC PRINCE has run three decent races for the Tienie Prinsloo stable. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last start has come out and won since. He should love the rise to the mile and must be included in all bets.
Race 3
SUGAR BLAST followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over 2000m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth in his last start has come out and won since. He does take a rise in class, but his trainer has bigger plans for him and he may be too good for this field.
SYX HOTFIX has good recent form lines to his credit. He is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. He is in a good space and will be involved in the fight to the finish.
LET THE FLAG FLY ran a fair race in his last start over this distance on the turf. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and should give a good account of himself.
Race 4
TIME TOGETHER set his own fractions up front over 1400m last time and fought back well to get the better of Jp Two Thousand. He meets a similar type of field this afternoon and with the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba, he can follow up.
JOSHUA HOTSNAKE has good recent form lines to his credit. He finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
PURPLE OPERATOR produced a typical second run after a rest last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He has won twice and finished second four times from eight starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie may be able to get the best out of him.
Race 5
CAPTAIN WHO’S last two starts have been good. He stayed on when third over 1200m on this course last time. He has won over the 1400m in the past and from his good draw of three, he is capable of returning to winning ways.
GIAMBATTISTA finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
WINTER WAVES is better than his last start over this C&D. His two starts prior to that outing were encouraging. Apprentice Nirvan Nastili takes the 4kgs off his back and if putting his best foot forward, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 6
SENOR GARCIA raced from a handy position over this trip last time and stayed on to finish second. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He takes a slight drop-in class and from his good draw of two, he can go one better.
ALL THE TIME should have finished closer to the winner last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. His last victory came under Rachel Venniker and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.
FINAL DESTINY’S last three starts under Cole Dicken have been good. He has won once and finished second twice from seven starts over this C&D. He does have an awkward draw of nine to overcome, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 7
BOSNAY’S last two starts have been good. She overraced in the Non-Black Type Beach Beauty Mile last time, but stayed on well to finish third. She finished third in her penultimate start on this course. If Muzi Yeni is able to switch her off early, she should return to winning ways.
PETIT VERDOT has decent recent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
ESCAPOLOGIST finished 0.85 lengths behind MOUNTAINSOFTHEMOON last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She must be included in all bets
