WSB Logo Orange 80x80The PGA Tour remains in Texas this week for the Valero Texas Open, which will be played at TPC San Antonio's Oaks Course. Let's take a look at this tournament from a betting angle.

The Course

The Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio is located 22.5km north of downtown San Antonio. It features water hazards on only two of its 18 holes. Many fairways are narrow and lined by trees on both sides, while the greens are large and undulating. The course is also dotted with deep bunkers, poised to capture any wayward shots. This par 72 course plays 6,798 metres.

Selections:

Corey Conners at 25/1

Connors will be looking to defend his title at the Texas Open and win it for a third time. Connors won last year finishing -15 and winning by 1 stroke and in 2019 finishing -20 and winning by 2 strokes. Connors has finished in the top 20 on both of his last starts and will feel comfortable going into this week at a course he clearly loves.

Suggested bet: Each way at 25/1

Ludvig Aberg at 12/1

The young Swedish golfer has had an impressive start to his season so far. He has finished in the top 25 in 5 of his last 5 starts, with 3 top 10 finishes. His best finish was a runner up at the AT&T Pebble Beach pro-am where he finished only 1 shot off first place. Aberg did not play in last year’s Texas Open, but he has proven he can compete with the best even at such a young age.

Suggested bet: Each Way at 12/1 and my main bet a Top 10 finish at 2/1

Hideki Matsuyama at 20/1

Matsuyama has been on a solid run of form recently, finishing in the top 25 on 5 of his last 6 starts. His best finish this season was when he won the Genesis Open by 3 shots finishing -17. Matsuyama finished 15th at last years Texas Open and he will be looking for a strong showing ahead of the US Masters.

Suggested bet: Each Way at 20/1 and my main bet a Top 20 finish at 11/10

Matt Kuchar at 80/1

Kuchar is a veteran of the PGA Tour and he has not been in great form breaking a run of 4 missed cuts with a top 50 in his last start. What persuades me to have a nibble on him is his excellent course form and has finished 3rd, 2nd, 12th and 7th in his last 4 starts here. Come on old chap roll back the years for us.

Suggested Bet: Kuchar Each Way at 80/1
