Race 1
DARK WINTER ran on powerfully to win her maiden at the third time of asking over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of What A Winter is a progressive type and should love the rise to 1400m. If not too green around the turn, she should be the one to beat.
YOU BRING ME JOY ran a fair race in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery last time. She won her previous two starts over 1000m. If seeing out the 1400m, she should pose a threat to the top choice.
MAGICAL VIEW won a good race in her last start over 1200m on this course. The daughter of Captain Of All should have no issues with the rise to 1400m and she is the stable elect. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
Race 2
PILOT FLAME showed good speed over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time but was outrun late. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and should have no issues with the rise to 1400m. She jumps from a good draw of two and in this field, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
BEAUTIFUL RANIA ran a fair race on debut over 1200m on this course. The daughter of Twice Over would have come on from the run and she should enjoy the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
MANDATE OF HEAVEN is an unraced daughter of Silvano from the Gareth van Zyl stable with Diego De Gouveia in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners Maxiumus and Masked Vigilante. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
Race 3
TIBBOTT BOURKE raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and fought hard all the way to the line. The son of Global View is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He is likely to race on the speed from his good draw of three and he may be hard to peg back.
BUZZ BOMB stayed on at the finish over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of World Of Pleasure. He will enjoy the step up to the mile and should give his older rivals a run for their money.
HOODWINKED produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. The son of Canford Cliffs would have come on from the run and should love the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be competitive.
Race 4
FORMAGEAR stayed on when fourth in the Non-Black Type Fever Tree Stakes last time. He won his only attempt over this C&D, three runs ago. S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and he will be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the line.
THE GREY KING ran a good race when second in the Grade 3 Schweppes Politician Stakes last time. He returns from a 12-week break, during which time he was gelded. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and if not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself.
MUCHO DINERO is a winner of his last four starts. He returns from a well-deserved 15-week break. This run will bring him on for future races but he has the class to win.
Race 5
SOLDIER’S EYE was unlucky not to have won her last start as she was baulked for galloping room between the 400m mark and the 200m mark. She finished 0.45 lengths behind MAGICAL FLIGHT in her penultimate run. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Rabada is having her peak run today and with luck in running, she can go one better.
MAGICAL FLIGHT ran a good race when second in her last start over 1400m at Turffontein. Six of her seven career victories have come over this distance. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
ZINIKELE was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1800m on the polytrack. She is at her best on the polytrack surface but she is in a good space and cannot be ignored.
Race 6
PHUTULICIOUS won a good race in his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He lost a length leaving the start, but quickened up well and won going away. The son of Fire Away should be at home over the mile. He does take on stronger, but may be ahead of the handicapper and he can follow up with another victory.
WICCAN WARRIOR ran on well when third over 1400m last time. He has dropped to a competitive rating and with Gavin Lerena retaining the ride, he can go close.
EL REY VIENE has good recent form lines to his credit. He has won once and finished third twice from four starts on this course. Rachel Venniker is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome draw nine and he may be hard to peg back.
Race 7
MADISON VALLEY showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1700m on the polytrack. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he should have no issues with the rise to 2300m. With a bit of luck from his awkward draw of nine, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
EVERY CLOUD was outrun late when second over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. The son of Pathfork should have no issues with the rise to 2300m. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride from barrier two and the pair merit healthy respect.
VIHAAN’S BOMB was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over this C&D last time. The son of Lancaster Bomber takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 8
TRUE LOVE’S KISS followed up her maiden victory with a good fourth-place finish over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She should have finished closer to the winner that day as she hung inwards in the final 300m. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If keeping on a straight line, she may be the one to beat.
ROY’S ROCKER rallied late when third over 1750m last time. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. From pole position, she may be the one to cause the upset.
LAST GINGER finished 0.5 lengths behind BURMESE TIARA last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is in a good space and must be included in all bets
