Race 1
VISIONOFPEACE was given a peach of a ride when winning on debut over 1160m on the Standside course. She found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. It must be noted that the horse that finished third has come out and won since. The daughter of Visionaire looks to be above average and she can remain unbeaten.
IT’S HER WAY showed good speed when winning her maiden over 1160m on the Standside course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
PEACE OF MIND showed pace in her last start but found one too good in the form of You Bring Me Joy. If seeing out the extra furlong on offer, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 2
DANTONFROMSANDTON showed good pace when winning his maiden at the second time of asking over 1000m on the Standside course. The son of Willow Magic is a progressive type and being the only winner in this race, he can follow up.
GREATERIX was not disgraced when third on debut in the Listed Storm Bird Stakes. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and should love the extra furlong on offer. He should make the natural improvement.
FINAL TRY stayed on when third over 1000m on the Standside course last time. The son of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1200m. He can finish in the placings.
Race 3
This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is GALLADORN from the Brett Crawford stable. His last start when fourth over 1400m on the Standside course was fair. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
TRIPPIS TUNE showed improvement in his last start over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. The son of Noble Tune should enjoy the rise to 1450m. He is carded to race on 10 March 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
HIGH QUEUE finished 2.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 4
ZENOBIA’S GOLD stayed on when third in her last start over 1400m on the Standside course. The daughter of William Longsword would have come on from the run and she should strip much fitter. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and in this field, she can shed her maiden tag.
GREEN FAME showed good improvement in her last start over 1160m. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight should love the rise in distance and she should strip much fitter. Gavin Lerena is back in the saddle and there should be more to come.
SUPERSKITT stayed on when third over this C&D last time. The cheekpieces seem to have done the trick on the daughter of Skitt Skizzle. She jumps from pole position and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 5
FAST DUTY was running on when third over 1500m on this course last time. The drop to 1200m should not pose an issue as he has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Global View is having his peak run today and with a bit of luck in running, he may be the one to beat.
PENDRAGON challenged strongly in his last start over 1000m but was pipped by Palace Revolt. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and against similar company, the combination merit healthy respect. He is carded to race on 10 March 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
MUNCHKIN ran a fair race over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. He is better than his recent form suggests and continues to drop in the ratings. He is carded to race on 07 March 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 6
ROSY LEMON stayed on when fourth over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. She drops in class and should return to winning ways.
DONNA MO ran a fair race in her post maiden effort over 1800m on this course. She tries the 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may be hard to peg back.
VESUVIO’S last two starts have been fair. He takes on weaker company this afternoon and with a bit of luck from the widest draw of ten, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 7
SAY YES lost a length leaving the start last time and stayed on to finish third. She has won once and finished second twice from four starts on this course. If getting away to a clean start, she can return to winning ways in this field.
I AM REGAL finished 1.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
BONIKA ran a fair race in her last start over 1600m. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist her cause. On best form shown, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
RUN FOR COVER ran on powerfully to win his last start over 1450m on this course. He received a three- pound penalty for that victory. The blinkers have done the trick on the son of Erupt. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners once again.
LIBECCIO finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
CARNELO has finished third in his last three starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back
