ADDRESS THE NATION showed good speed when winning on debut over 800m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of One World could be anything and is one of the leading contenders.
CYMRIC is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable with Philasande Mxoli in the saddle. He is related to two-time winner Egyptian Mau. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.
Race 2
YOU BRING ME JOY showed good speed and held on where it matters most to win her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Erupt is a progressive type and being the only winner in this contest, she should follow up.
PEACE OF MIND stayed on at the finish last time, but found one too good in the form of Almond Sea. Denis Schwarz retains the ride and there may be more to come from her.
EMBLEM OF THE SUN produced a fair debut effort over 1160m on this course. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she can finish in the placings.
Race 3
DHOW SOLO’S last start can be ignored as she was reported to be not striding out. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Oratorio is the form horse in the race and unless one of the first timers have ability, she should be the one to beat.
ENCHANTING LADY should have finished closer last time as she was cramped for galloping room at the 300m mark. She finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
WINTER IN PARIS is an unraced daughter of What A Winter from the Dianne Stenger stable with Chase Maujean in the saddle. She is related to nine-time winner Trip Of Fortune. She does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this type of field. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first timers.
Race 4
VAN MEIJEL is better than his last start over 1450m on the Inside course. His penultimate run when third over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course was encouraging. The son of Dynasty will be at peak fitness and in this field, he can shed his maiden tag.
AND ACTION has been disappointing in his last two starts. He returns from a 19-week break which may have done him the world of good. He finished third on debut over this C&D. If fit, there should be room for improvement.
STREWN SKY has produced two fair efforts to date. He returns from a 28-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. In this field, he should have improvement to come.
Race 5
DONNA MO has good recent form lines to her credit. She showed speed over 1200m on the Inside course last time and stayed on to finish third. The manner in which she has finished off her previous races suggests that she will be at home over 1800m. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and back against her own sex, she should be the one to beat.
VOLARE E MAMBO stayed on when fourth over 1400m on this course last time. The daughter of Mambo In Seattle is a progressive type and will enjoy the rise to 1800m. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
DYNAMIC LASS showed very good improvement when third in her last start over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course. She is having her peak run today and cannot be ignored.
Race 6
MARAUDING HORDE has produced two good second place finishes to date. He stayed on when second over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course last time. The son of Vercingetorix will love the extra furlong on offer. He is a progressive type and should take a power of beating.
REMAINS OF THE DAY has fair form lines to his credit. He steps up to the 1800m and if seeing out the distance, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
DARK SILVER may not have seen out the 2000m last time and drops to 1800m. His penultimate run when beaten under a length over 1600m, catches the eye. He jumps from a good draw of two and should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 7
BARBARESCO lost a length leaving the start in the Grade 3 Betway Got The Greenlight Stakes but ran on well to finish second. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will love the step up to the mile. If getting away to a clean start, he is capable of going one better.
SILENT WAR raced from a handy position last time and tried hard all the way to the line. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is in a good space and should pose a threat to the top choice.
FUNKY MUSIC set the pace over 1400m on this course last time, but was outrun late. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. He is likely to adopt the same tactics from barrier two and may be hard to peg back.
Race 8
AUSSENKEHR took on stronger company in his last start over 1000m on this course. The son of Elusive Fort is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D. He takes a drop back in class and if putting his best foot forward, he is capable of returning to winning ways.
I AM GIANT showed signs of needing his last start over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The son of Querari is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
MOONSHININGTHROUGH was running on when third over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course last time. Two of her five career victories have come over this C&D. She always gives of her best and must be included in all bets.
Race 9
CORNWALL stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. He has won twice from five starts over this C&D. The son of Querari takes a drop-in class. Kaidan Brewer knows the son of Querari well and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
WHAT A TIGER ran a good race when third in his last start over this C&D. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and if getting away to a clean start, he should pose a threat.
THERE SHE GOES fought hard for her last victory over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The 5yo mare is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money
