Race 1
PLINIAN is the best bet on the programme. He showed good speed over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, but was caught late by Seattle Ripper. If suited to this course, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
B FIFTYTWO set the pace over 1400m on the polytrack last time, but did not go on with the effort. The son of Lancaster Bomber will enjoy the drop to 1000m and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
STAR OF THE FUTURE is an unraced son of Futura from the Frank Robinson yard with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. He is related to two-time winner Harley’s Fate. If not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants in this contest.
Race 2
MIA‘S ATHENA has produced three good runs to date. She returns from a 14-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber meets the right field today and if fit, she should take a power of beating.
KIAN‘S PRIDE showed good speed over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, but cost herself by hanging in the closing stages. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and if keeping on a straight line, she should be competitive.
WITCHWOOD finished 0.7 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
Race 3
SIGN OF FATE has taken on winners in her last two starts. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish over 1200m last time was encouraging. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will love the rise to the mile. She is back in Maiden Company and she may be the one to side with.
MADAME POMPADOUR‘S last three starts have been decent. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will be at home over this distance. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
KITTY MO ran a fair race in her last start over 1400m on the polytrack. The daughter of Royal Mo tries the mile for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may have more to come
Race 4
REACH FORTHE STARS has fair recent form lines to his credit. He stayed on at the finish when fourth over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that Trois Trois Quatre has come out and won again since. The son of Gimmethegreenlight should love the rise to 2400m and with S’manga Khumalo retaining the ride, he may be the one to beat.
PLAYER X finished 0.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
DANCE TO THE MUSIC showed good improvement in his last start over 1700m on the polytrack. The son of Gimmethegreenlight should have no issues with the extra distance on offer and he can finish in the placings.
Race 5
This is a competitive Merit Rated 90 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is KITCHAKAL from the Duncan Howells stable. He finished 0.3 lengths behind ADDABAR in his last start. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Master Of My Fate will love the rise to 1800m and he can notch up his third career victory
ADDABAR set his own fractions up front last time and held on where it matters most. The son of Rabada tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can follow up.
EL REY VIENE finished 0.4 lengths behind NEWS STREAM last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He gets the cheekpieces and tongue-tie fitted for the first time which may do the trick.
Race 6
PORFIRIO won a good race in his last start over this distance on the polytrack. He raced from a handy position and despite travelling wide around the turn, he drew clear of the opposition in the closing stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He jumps from pole position and can follow up.
FISH EAGLE ran a fair race in his last start over 1160m at Turffontein. The son of Rafeef steps up to 1400m and the blinkers have been removed. With luck in running, he should pose a threat.
WINTER WAVES is better than his last two starts. He takes a drop-in class and will be running on from his wide draw.
Race 7
MIST IN SCOTLAND hails from the visiting Paul Matchett stable. She showed good speed over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from five starts over this distance. The daughter of Vercingetorix takes a drop-in class and may be hard to peg back.
RED ROSES TOO won a game race over 1000m on the polytrack. The blinkers have done the trick and she can follow up
CERTAINLY set the pace over 1200m last time, but was caught late by Star Choice. She drops to the 1000m and the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew will help her cause.
Race 8
LICENCE TO THRILL made the expected natural improvement when winning his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He moved up well and kept finding all the way to the line. The son of Twice Over takes on stronger, but he is a progressive type and should be up to the task at hand.
AMPERSAND won a game race in his last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces
SEATTLE RIPPER ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The son of New Predator is a progressive type and will love the rise to 1200m. With a bit of luck from his wide barrier position, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest
