BettingDiaryThere is just the one ICC T20 World Cup game taking place on Monday and it features England against Sri Lanka.

Before we get into that match let’s look at the latest Outright Betting where England have now replaced India as favourites and are currently trading at 18/10. Pakistan are next in the betting at 5/2, you can get 11/2 New Zealand, 15/2 Australia, South Africa are 10/1 and India whose fate is no longer in their hands has ballooned out to 25/1, the same price as Afghanistan and you can get 75/1 and better the balance.

This game takes place in Sharjah and England will be looking to make it 4 wins from 4 as they sit comfortably at the top of Group 1 at the moment, the only team with a 100% record.

England have looked worthy favourites with convincing victories over the West Indies and Bangladesh followed up by a totally dominant performance against Australia on Saturday.

England won the toss and elected to field first against the Aussies and they then kept them down to a 125 in their 20 overs. For the English the wickets were spread around and it is hard to single out any one bowler as standing out, although Livingstone’s 1 for 15 off 4 overs was certainly impressive.

England raced to 126 for 2 in the 12th over with Jos Buttler top scoring with 71 at a strike rate of 221 including five 6’s and five 4’s.

Sri Lanka are currently sitting 4th on the Group with 2 losses and 1 victory in their 3 starts. They opened with a victory against Bangladesh before losing to Australia and then most recently going down to the Proteas. That game took place in Sharjah where South Africa won the toss and sent the Sri Lankans in. They reached 142 in their 20 overs with Pathum Nissanka top scoring with 72 at a strike rate of 124 and the big disappointment of the innings was probably the run out of Asalanka on 21 as he was looking in great form.

Sri Lanka then had South Africa on the ropes at one point only to allow them back in to win the match with just 1 ball to spare. Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 20 in his 4 overs and Dushmantha Chameera was also impressive with 2 for 27 in his 4 overs spell.

England are predictably short priced favourites for this game and it is hard to oppose them on current form so I am going to look at some of the Exotic Markets for an interest.

England 2/9

Sri Lanka 7/2

Suggested Bet: Top Away Batsman, Asalanka at 33/10

Asalanka has looked in excellent form in this Tournament and as mentioned above was very disappointed to get run out against the Proteas. He will have to be on top of his game against this English attack, but he looks a nice price to be the Top Sri Lankan Bat.

Suggested Bet: Top England Bat, Eoin Morgan at 7/1

This is a speculative play as there is every chance Morgan does not get much time at the crease, but I have a feeling though that England’s once concern maybe is the lack of batting time for their middle order so we may see some shuffling and perhaps Morgan gets a bigger crack than the bookies expect.
