The Italian Grand Prix takes place at the Monza Circuit this weekend and we take a look at the race from a betting angle.
Max Verstappen continued his dominant run when he won this home Grand Prix in Holland last week, his 4th successive victory. George Russell finished 4 seconds behind him with Charles Leclerc completing the podium, Lewis Hamilton finished 4th.
Verstappen is out of sight at the top of the Drivers Standings, but good news is that bookmakers are betting a “without Verstappen” market and this is far more competitive. Leclerc and Perez both have 201 points, 13 points ahead of Russell with Sainz a further 13 points back and Lewis Hamilton 17 points behind Sainz. Leclerc tops the betting boards in this market at 4/7 with Perez 9/2, Russell 7/1 and you can get 8/1 Hamilton and 12/1 Sainz.

Looking back at last year’s Italian Grand Prix it was Daniel Ricciardo who won the race ahead of Lando Norris with Valtteri Bottas in 3rd. Championship contenders Hamilton and Verstappen crashed out in a collision after 25 laps.
The Italian Grand Prix tends to throw up some surprise results such as Ricciardo win last year and the year before that it was Pierre Gasly who took the chequered flag. Leclerc won in 2019 and that broke a run of 2 victories for Lewis Hamilton who has won here 5 times.

Suggested Bet: Lewis Hamilton win at 9/1
It is really hard to bet against Verstappen but at 9/20 he is just a bit too short for my pocket and I am going to go for Hamilton to finally get his first win of the season. Hamilton had enjoyed a couple of runner-up finishes in France and Hungary before retiring in Belgium and then coming 4th in the Dutch Grand Prix last week. It would likely need Verstappen to have some bad luck for Hamilton to win, but at 9/1 I am prepared to take my chances.
Suggested Bet: Top 6 finish, Lando Norris at 12/10
Norris has been knocking on the door of the Top 6 Finish with four 7 place finishes in his last 5 starts. I am backing his consistency to be rewarded with a spot in the top 6 this week.
