NRL ROUND 10 – THURSDAY & FRIDAY MATCHES
We had a mixed bag last week, but of course we suit back up and go again for week 10.
SYDNEY ROOSTERS vs CANBERRA RAIDERS – Thu 16 July @ 11:50, SCG Sydney
The Story thus far
The Roosters took their time to get going against the Cowboys but boy when they finally fired up they dishes out seven tries inside half an hour of footie to the poor north Queenslanders. The Premiers have players falling like flies yet still have the squad and class to operate at a high level. Canberra were involved in a tight tussle when they came up short against the Storm. The Raiders have now slipped to seventh on the ladder with the Roosters in fourth. The Raiders have shown some glimpses of form and never lack the will to fight yet it doesn’t seem like 2020 is going to be their year.
Verdict
Instead of missing Bret Morris last week the replacement steps up and grabs FIVE – the Chooks have scary depth and clearly won’t be tripped up by something as trivial as injuries. I don’t foresee the Roosters having too much of a problem with getting past the Raiders and whilst the handicap looks well set there could still be the possibility of being enticed by a home team punt. Alternative markets will come into play for me in this one.
MELBOURNE STORM vs GOLD COAST TITANS – Fri 17 July @ 10:00, Sunshine Coast
The Story thus far
The Storm are back up to third in the standings and in the past three weeks have handing out a hiding to the Warriors, pulled off a dramatic win over the Roosters and last week got the job done against the Raiders – a team in form. Gold Coast secured their third win of the season as they came form behind against the New Zealanders.
Verdict
It’s a top-three side against a bottom three team and the result should be a foregone conclusion. Cam Munster returns for Melbourne and that just makes the task so much more difficult for the Titans despite having the advantage of not having to travel for this “away” clash. It’s always tricky taking on such a big handicap but I certainly won’t be opposing the Storm.
WEST TIGERS vs BRISBANE BRONCOS – Fri 17 July @ 11:55, Leichhardt Oval Sydney
The Story thus far
West Tigers have been an impressive team in 2020 yet disappointed against the Rabbitohs last week where they were well beaten. The Broncos finally managed to break their losing streak against the Bulldogs in Round 9.
Verdict
It’s a team that’s performed well in recent times (yet dropped off last week) against a side that’s been awful this season yet come into this one off a victory. For mind one win won’t fix all the troubles in the Brisbane camp and the Tigers should bounce back in this one. Given plenty of changes in the Tigers rank I will however only have a go at some value of the potential for a bit of a blowout.

Additional Plays
Roosters vs Raiders: HT/FT Margin – Roosters (1-8) / Roosters (1-12) @ 9.00
Storm vs Titans: Total Points under 44.5
Tigers vs Broncos: Alternative Cap Tigers (lookout for a price closer to kickoff)
Tryscorers
Roosters vs Raiders
Off the back of five tries no one has more confidence at present than the newbie, Ikuvalu. Flanagan has as good a chance as any to score one late and add to his 4 scores in 2020.
Storm vs Titans
Lee should have all the opportunity in the world to express himself against the Titans.
Tigers vs Broncos
The Tigers failed to launch last week but I will stick with my same plays and trust them to produce this time around against a Broncos defence that’s hardly an impressive one.
