BettingDiaryThe Arnold Palmer Invitational is stuck between a WGC event and the Players Championship, but a strong field nonetheless takes to the tee at the Bay Hill Country Club this week. We pick 4 players to take on the field.

Bay Hill is a par 72 layout where length off the tee is an asset, but certainly not a guarantee for success. Course form has proven important over the years and we have seen multiple back-to-back winners. The wind can also be a factor.

Rory Mcilroy is a regular at this event and he is the 17/2 favourite ahead of Bryson Dechambeau and Viktor Hovland both priced at 12/1. You can get 18/1 defending Champion Tyrrell Hatton and 22/1 and better the balance.

PAST WINNERS

2019 – Francesco Molinari -12

2018 – Rory Mcilroy -18

2017 – Marc Leishman -11

2016 – Jason Day -17

SELECTIONS:

Matthew Fitzpatrick each way at 22/1

Fitzpatrick will be a popular pick this week and he ticks a lot of boxes with both course and current form very strong. He finished runner-up here 2 years ago and followed that up with a Top 10 finish last year and he is also in good form just finishing outside the Top 10 last week and 5th the week before that.

Marc Leishman each way at 55/1

Leishman is another who enjoys the course and he finished runner-up last season and was also a winner here back in 2017. He showed some good form earlier in the season, but has dipped a bit and has finished outside the Top 30 in his last 2 tournaments. Still, given his record here I am willing to chance him this week at a decent price.

Sungjae Im each way at 25/1

Sungjae has been in decent nick and finished in the Top 30 last week, but he hasn’t been shooting the lights out. He comes to a course though where he has played twice and finished 3rd on each occasion so there is every chance he comes to hand this week.

Luke List each way at 125/1

List is my rank outsider this week and although he hasn’t been in the greatest of form of late he does have a Top 10 finish to his credit 3 starts back. What caught my eye though was his course form and although he didn’t play last year, prior to that he had a couple of Top 10 finishes in a row and in 3 starts has finished no worse than 17th at Bay Hill.
