BettingDiaryThe Caves Valley Golf Club in Baltimore, Maryland plays host to this week’s BMW Championship the penultimate round of the FedExCup playoffs.

The Caves Valley Golf Club makes its PGA Tour debut so we have to go into this event without any course form. It plays to a par 72 with plenty of elevation changes and water in play on 5 of the 18 holes. The fairways are narrow meaning accuracy off the tee will be important. This course did host a senior players event back in 2017 where the winning score was (-18) so we could be in for another low scoring week.

Jon Rahm tops the betting boards at 13/2 and he was right in contention last week before been beaten into 3rd behind Tony Finau who broke a 5 year wait for the victory. Xander Schauffele is second in the betting at 16/1 with Dustin Johnson, Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas all 20/1 and you can get 22/1 and better the balance.

SUGGESTED BETS:

Collin Morikawa each way at 20/1

Morikawa missed the cut last week and that’s when he slipped down to 6th place on the FedEx Cup rankings having led going into the Northern Trust Open narrow fairways and fairly small greens his excellent iron play should be a big plus this week and I fancy him to bounce back from last week’s disappointment.

Keegan Bradley each way at 90/1

Bradley’s game has been a bit off, but he bounced back to form last week finishing 11th in the Northern Trust. He is sitting in 32nd spot at the moment and needs a good finish this week to qualify for the Tour Championship. He is a past winner of this event back in 2018, all be it, it is at a different course.

Erik van Rooyen each way at 100/1

I must admit to being a bit surprised to get a triple figure quote on Van Rooyen who finished 7th last week and was a winner in a much weaker field two starts back. Van Rooyen has shown he has the game to compete on the PGA Tour and I never need much encouragement to have a South African in the staking plan.

Justin Thomas each way at 20/1

After throwing a couple of big prices in I am heading back towards the top of the betting boards where I think Justin Thomas can build on his 4th place finish of last week. He is striking the ball brilliantly and I think he is going to be course suited as he bids to win his second BMW Championship in 3 years.
