MODCLogoPool B of Momentum One Day Cup continues on Wednesday with a clash between the Warriors and the Cape Cobras at Potchefstroom and both sides need a victory to boost their chances of a semi final place.

Pool B is home for the Cobras, Lions and Warriors and the Lions currently have a a record of 2 wins from 2 outings after defeating the Warriors and the Cobras.

Warriors

The Warriors lost to the Lions by 42 runs at this venue on Sunday. They would have been pretty happy with restricting the Lions to a bat first total of 210 although given they had the Lions aat 47/4 the target could have been even lower. Mthiwekhaya Nabe took 4 wickets and JJ Smuts 3 but the Warriors batsmen failed to fire in the chase.

Smuts and Rudi Second are 2 of the headline acts in the Warriors batting line up but both failed to score as the Warriors were bowled out for 168. Wihan Lubbe top scored with 42 and Lesiba Ngoepe was the only other players to make it past 30.

This was how the Warriors lined up against their Lions last time out.

Lesiba Ngoepe, Yaseen Vallie, JJ Smuts, Rudi Second (capt), Wihan Lubbe, Sinethemba Qeshile (wk), Ayabulela Gqamane, Glenton Stuurman, Mthiwekhaya Nabe, Stefan Tait, Marco Marais

Cobras

The Cobras were also no match for the Lions in their first action of the MODC. Batting first they posted 221 all out in 49 of their 50 overs. Opening bat Janneman Malan top scored with 67, Chrstiaan Jonker cleared the ropes 3 times in a quick fire 33 but the target looked below par.

The Lions were always in control of the chase and they cruised home for a 6 wicket win with more than 10 overs to spare.

This was how the Cobras lined up last time out.

Janneman Malan, Tony de Zorzi, Zubayr Hamza (capt), Jean du Plessis (wk), Jason Smith, Christiaan Jonker, Aviwe Mgijima, Corbin Bosch, Imran Manack, Nandre Burger, Siyabonga Mahima

Potchefstroom

With all the matches being staged at this venue the pitches will be well worth keeping an eye on, especially as the 4 of the 6 scheduled matches in Pool A were washed out without a ball bowled..

The Verdict:

After this the Warriors take on the Lions on Thursday, the Cobras do likewise on Friday and these 2 sides clash again in the final pool match at the weekend.

Given the Lions have 2 bonus point wins they look home and hosed for a semi final place leaving room for only 1 of these 2 sides to join them.

The early match result betting sees the game priced up as “choice” and I wouldn't disagree. Both teams have potential match winners and it really does look a tough call.

I will go with Janneman Malan to score over 31.5 runs for the Cobras and Rudi Second to to score over 30.5 runs for the Warriors.

Bets: Janneman Malan to score over 31.5 runs at 0.83/1

Rudi Second to do score over 30.5 runs at 0.83/1
