English Premier League football returns from a break and we take a look at sslected matches including Aston Villa v Crystal Palace, Spurs v Sheffield United and Sunday's game between Everton and Arsenal.
First game week after an international break makes the team news worth monitoring closely. Not too much stands out on the weekend coupon to me but let's see
what we can find.
Aston Villa 9/10 Draw 27/10 Crystal Palace 2.94/1 (Saturday)
Villa have won 2 and lost 2 of their first 4 matches. A 5-1 hiding at Newcastle was followed by wins at home to Everton (4-0) and away at Burnley (3-1) and most recently they were well beaten at Liverpool (3-0).
Palace have 7 points from their first 4 matches. They have won at Sheffield United (1-0) and home to Wolves (3-2) either side of a 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal and a 1-1 draw at Brentford.
The Verdict:
Villa have blown a bit hot and cold and a couple of defenders have picked up knocks in addition to longer term absentee Mings. I've plenty of time for Palace and they could be dangerous here. Edouard has been in his best form since joining the club and with confidence high he gets my vote to pop up with a goal anytime.

Spurs 0.28/1 Draw 5/1 Sheffield United 8.65/1 (Saturday)
Spurs return to action in second spot, 1 of 3 teams on 10 points, 2 shy of league leaders Manchester City. Since drawing 2-2 at Brentford on the opening weekend Spurs have won at home to Manchester United and Bournemouth (both 2-0) and most recently Son scored a hat trick in a 5-2 win at Burnley. The only disappointment so far came in an EFL Cup penalty shoot out defeat at Fulham when a number of regulars were rotated.
After losing their first 3 matches Sheffield United opened their account with a 2-2 draw at home to fellow early season strugglers Everton. Prior to that there had been encouragement when they only went down (2-1) to a late Manchester City winner in another home fixture. Earlier they lost 2-1 away to Forest and 1-0 at home to Palace and the Blades also went out of the EFL Cup after losing on spot kicks to League 1 side Lincoln after a 0-0 draw.
The Verdict:
Spurs have been good to watch and we will find out plenty more about them over the next couple of game weeks when they take on some big guns. In the meantime I expect them to have too much for Sheffield.
With the first game after internationals a little bit concern I will still side with Spurs to score at least 3 goals. For a more speculative goalscorer pick, the way Spurs get their wingbacks forward is encouraging for the chances of a goal from Pedro Porro

Everton 48/10 Draw 7/2 Arsenal 5/10 (Sunday)
That 2-2 draw away to Sheffield was also the first point of the season for Everton and their first league goals. Prior to that they lost at home to Wolves and Fulham (both 1-0) either side of the 4-0 hiding at Villa.
The Gunners are unbeaten and have 10 points against their name. After surprisingly being held at home to Fulham (2-2), they bounced back with a 3-1 home win over Manchester United whilst earlier they won 1-0 at Palace and 2-1 at home to Forest.
The Verdict:
Given a clean enough bill of health one would expect Arsenal to chalk up another win although my gut feel is Everton will give them a game.
Odegaard is my go to man in the anytime goalscorer market and I will take a chance on Beto who I believe is Everton's most realistic source of a goal.
