liverpool1819The pick of Sunday's English Premier League matches see Liverpool host Aston Villa and Arsenal have home advantage against Manchester United

Liverpool 13/20 Draw 34/10 Villa 34/10

Liverpool finished round 3 as 1 of 4 teams on 7 points, 2 shy of league leaders Manchester City. Despite conceding first and then playing more than hour with 10 men (van Dijk sent off), 2 late goals from substitute Darwin Nunez saw them come away from Newcastle with a 2-1 victory last weekend. Liverpool began with a 1-1 draw at Chelsea and they were 3-1 winners at home to Bournemouth.

Villa lost their way at Newcastle in their opening match and crashed to a 5-1 defeat. Since then they have made amends with a 4-0 home win over Everton and a 3-1 win at Burnley. They have also progressed in the Europa Conference league, thrashing Hibs home and away.

The Verdict:

I see plenty of scope for goals and probably for both sides. If you forgive Villa their opening day result they have impressed whilst Liverpool (and Nunez) will take plenty from a fine win at Newcastle.

Arsenal 15/20 Draw 3/1 Man United 32/10

After taking maximum points from their first 2 matches with wins at home to Forest (2-1) and at Palace (1-0) the Gunners slipped up last week in a 2-2 draw at home to Fulham. They came from behind to lead that game 2-1 and although Fulham were reduced to 10 men late on they conjured up an equalizer.

United have 6 points but their early season form is hardly convincing. A late winner saw them start with a 1-0 home victory over Wolves but next time out they were beaten 2-0 at Spurs. They were 2-0 down inside 4 minutes in last week's 3-2 home win against Forest, fighting back to restore parity and finding the decisive goal shortly after Forest had a man sent off.

The Verdict:

Arsenal missed a trick last week but United have injury problems in defence and I fancy the Gunners to come out on top in a game where both sides find the net.
