Race 1

BE MERRY is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. She finished third in the Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes at Fairview last time. The drop to 1000m is no concern for the daughter of Lancaster Bomber and she should be the one to beat.

LOVE STORY ran a fair race on debut over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She would have come on from the outing and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should pose a threat.

MRS SHACKLETON showed improvement when fourth against winners last time. She is back in Maiden Company and should finish in the placings. She is carded to race on 3 September 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 2

BOUNDLESS ENERGY produced a decent debut effort over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He raced from just off the pace and stayed on to finish third. The son of Vercingetorix should enjoy the rise in distance and in this field, he should take a power of beating.

ZEITZ is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Andre Nel stable with Corne Orffer in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Zakho and The Grey King. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers in this contest.

NOBLE STEED is a son of Elusive Fort from the Justin Snaith stable with JP van der Merwe in the irons. He jumps from a good draw of two and if not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 3

ON MY HONOUR produced an encouraging debut effort over 1250m on this course. He was green in running but stayed on to finish second. The son of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on from the run and he should enjoy the extra distance on offer. From pole position, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

MR BELVEDERE returns from a 15-week break which would have done him the world of good. On best form shown, he should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice.

JOUEUR DE FLUTE found one too good in the form of Stated over this C&D, five weeks ago. The son of Rafeef is coming along the right way and with luck from the widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

CUMBRE VIEJA has finished second in his last three starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. He has cracked a good draw of four and if Richard Fourie is able to keep him on a straight line, he should be rewarded for consistency.

GIVETHATMANABELLS finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

ROYAL PORT LOUIS finished 2 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may battle to turn the tables. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter.

Race 5

FAIRFIELD was in need of her last start over this C&D. She raced wide around the turn with no cover and understandably lacked a finish in the straight. Her penultimate run when second over 1400m was encouraging. The daughter of Futura will strip a much fitter horse today and from her good draw of two, she may be the one to beat. JET TO

THE SUN’S last three starts have been good. She raced from a handy position over 1400m last time but found one too good in the form of Protect The Dream. She is having her peak run today and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SANSA STARK was doing her best work late when fourth over this C&D last time. She finished 2.25 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 6

MOHANDAS stayed on at the finish over 2000m last time but found one too good in the form of King Pelles. He has finished second twice and third once from as many starts on this course. He has cracked pole position and in this type of field, he can go one better.

IGNATIUS stayed on to finish fourth over 1600m on this course last time. He takes a slight drop in class and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he should be right there at the finish.

SUDDEN SONG ran on when winning his last start over this distance. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is drawn wide in barrier 10 but Luyolo Mxothwa knows him well and he should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 7

PLEASE BE TRUE made the expected natural improvement when winning over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of One World does take on stronger but he is a progressive type and should be up to the task at hand.

WINTER PEARL should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the final 400m. He has won twice from four starts over this C&D. If not in need of this outing, he should pose a threat.

TRIPPI’S SILK finished 0.8 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

Race 8

QUESTIONING produced good form lines before the 14-week break. He stayed on at the finish over 1200m last time but found one too good in the form of Meu Capitano. The son of Querari is unbeaten from two starts on this course. He could have a big Cape Season ahead and he is the horse to beat.

SILVER FALCON has shown signs of a form return in his last two starts. He has won three times and finished third once from five starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie steps into the saddle and he may be able to get the best out of him.
