kingsmeadThe Durban Super Giants host the Pretoria Capitals at Kingsmead on Friday night and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.

Let’s start with a look at the current table and Outright Betting. The Durban Super Giants currently sit 5th on the log on 8 points from 4 matches and they are currently 5/1 shots to win the Cup. Pretoria Capitals are top of the log on 13 points from their 4 games and they have for the first time moved position to Tournament favourites at 3/1.

DURBAN SUPER GIANTS

Durban Super Giants are coming off something of a break by this Tournament’s standards so they were last in action on Tuesday away at the Paarl Royals. The Super Giants won the toss and decided to bowl ultimately restricting the Paarl Royals to 169 for 6 off their 20 overs. Dwaine Pretorius was the leading wicket taker with 2 for 35 off 4 overs, Subrayen was the most economical bowler with 1 for 24 off his 4. The Durban Super Giants never really got on top of the run chase and eventually a late burst by Heinrich Klaasen scoring 56 off 39 balls saw them fall short by 10 runs.

PRETORIA CAPITALS

The Pretoria Capitals are coming off a double header against Joburg Super Kings. It looked like they were going to get a win at the Wanderers on Wednesday night, but eventually fell short and went down by 6 runs. They bounced back in emphatic style on the night after though when they hosted the Super Kings at Centurion.

The Pretoria Capitals had won the toss, decided to bowl, a decision which paid dividends when they bundled the Super Kings out for 122. James Neesham got an impressive 3 for 7 off 3 overs and Anrich Nortje 3 for 12 off his 4 overs. Capitals got off to a fast start thanks to Will Jacks’s 34 off 16 balls and Phil Salt ultimately top scored with an unbeaten 52 off 30 balls.

Durban Super Giants 19/20

Pretoria Capitals 5/6

Once again I am going to leave the Outright Market alone as I usually like to get on this in in-running at the half-time break where I have had the opportunity to access pitch conditions, that doesn’t mean I won’t be getting involved in pre-game though and here are a couple of lays in the Exotic Markets.

Suggested Bet: Over 1, Pretoria Capitals Total over 6.5 runs at 1/1

With Jacks and Salt opening the batting you just know they are going to have a go in the opening over and of course a wicket might thwart this bet, but I am backing the Pretoria Capitals to get off to another flyer.

Suggested Bet: Durban Super Giants Top Bat, Heinrich Klaasen at 28/10

Klaasen has been very good to me in this Tournament and he looks in cracking form. There is always the danger that he won’t get enough time at the crease, but such as the speed that he bats at that even if he gets 6 or 7 overs he may well get to the top score.
