newlandsIt is full steam ahead for the South Africa T20 League with two matches on Friday in Paarl and Cape Town.  We take a look at both games from a betting angle.

PAARL ROYALS v JOBURG SUPER KINGS

The Paarl Royals were beaten in their opening match by MI Cape Town at Newlands.  MI Cape Town won the toss and sent the Paarl Royals in restricting them to a 142 for 7, Buttler getting 51 off 42 and David Miller getting 42 off 31.  MI Cape Town then knocked the runs off with 4.5 overs to spare and 8 wickets in hand.

The Joburg Super Kings were victorious in their first game against Durban Super Giants at Kingsmead.  The Joburg Super Kings won the toss and decided to bat first scoring an impressive 190 for 6 thanks to an excellent 82 not out at a strike rate of more than 200 from Donavon Ferreira and a quick fire 40 off 19 balls from Romario Shepherd at the back of the innings.

Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 30 in his 4 overs as the Kings restricted the Giants to 174 for 5.

Paarl Royals 8/10

Joburg Super Kings 1/1

Suggested Bet:  Paarl Royals win at 8/10

The Paarl Royals were a bit disappointing in their opening game, but I am expecting this star studded team to bounce back in some style in their second match.

Suggested Bet:  Player to score the most Sixes, Paarl Royals, Buttler at 9/4

Buttler only cleared the boundary once in his opening innings, but he looked in good nick and I fancy him to have the crowd diving for one handed catches.

MI CAPE TOWN V DURBAN SUPER GIANTS

MI Cape Town were impressive in their opening victory over Paarl Royals restricting their opponents to a 142 for 7 with Jofra Archer the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 27 in his 4 overs.  MI Cape Town then knocked off the runs with 4.5 overs to spare finishing on 143 for 2 with Dewald Brevis the stand-out batsman with 70 off 41 balls.

The Durban Super Giants had to chase a massive 191 for victory in their game against the Joburg Super Kings at home.  Most of their bowlers were given tap although credit must go to Keshav Maharaj with 1 for 23 in his 4 overs.  The Giants started well, but when Quinton de Kock went for 78 off 52 balls the writing was on the wall and they lost by 16 runs.

MI Cape Town 4/7

Durban Super Giants 14/10

MI Cape Town looked the business and have great balance to their team, but I am going to steer clear of a match result and look at the other Exotic Markets.

Suggested Bet:  Over 1, Durban Super Giants Total Over 5.5 runs at 15/20

I quite enjoy this bet which is decided within 6 balls of the Giants innings starting.  My hope would be that Quinton de Kock is on strike at some point in which case I think they can make short work of the 6 runs required.

Suggested Bet:  Player to make the most 6’s, Pretorius at 9/1

I expect the Giants to learn from their mistakes in the opening game and send Pretorius in earlier.  He hit two 6’s in his brief stay last time out and it think there is more to come.
