BettingDiaryThe Tour de France, Stage 17 starts in Grenoble and covers 170 kilometres ending in Meribel. We take a look at the stage from a betting angle.

Stage 16 Wrap

Stage 16 of the Tour de France went very much as expected but with a massive battle to get into the break, but when it went away the leaders were more than happy to sit up and let it get a 15 minute lead. In the end it was a superb ride by Kamna who survived attacks by Carapaz on the final climb before springing him at the summit and riding clear to win by over a minute.

The GC guys waited until the final short climb before they made a few half-hearted attempts to gain seconds, but in the end everyone finished together.

Roglic continues to be a massive favourite for Yellow with Pogacar showing with an attempted late attack that he will not be lying down accepting 2nd place.

It was a big day for Sam Bennett in the Green who didn’t lose any points to Peter Sagan although Trentin is now getting close to striking distance.

Stage 17 Verdict

Today’s stage ends with 2 massive climbs and should be one for the General Classification candidates to fight out. The question is who will chase the break and I expect that the teams of Pogacar, Landa and Lopez will do so and will bring it all back together for a battle up the final climb. It is hard to look past the Slovenian pairing and to me Pogacar has looked slightly the stronger man on man and I am going for him to win with the insurance of the money back guarantee, see banner below.

Stage 17 Bets: Pogacar win at 5/2

Don't forget our money back promotion for a second place finish on all stages of the tour.
