Super Rugby Trans-Tasman, Rainbow Cup, Premiership, VC semi's 24- 30 May

I had one of those weekends that come along once in a while where virtually everything lands. I actually started badly Friday with a loss on Highlanders points but then had some great wins including Waratahs overs (which was also the newsletter best bet), Reds overs (just), Chiefs overs, Sharks v WP overs and WP win (I also won R500 off Oracle in this one), Lions v Bulls overs and Lions points overs

To top it off Toulouse beat the handicap to land the 14/1 newsletter acca (subscribe link below)

Onto this week and I imagine things will get trickier in the TT with bookies wising up to the points lines - there is also Premiership, Pro 14 Rainbow Cup and the Varsity Cup semi's - Rainbow Cup SA takes a 1 week break

Here are my handicap projections for the Super Rugby TT

SRTT
Hurricanes -19.5 v Force
Waratahs +33.5 v Crusaders
Blues -9.5 v Brumbies
Reds +7.5 v Chiefs
Highlanders -24.5 v Rebels

Hello fellas! Long time reader of the forum, first time posting here. Caps out for Super Rugby on 365 and a few that I fancy:

Force +22.5
The Force have been in some really scrappy affairs lately and this just seems like too many points, especially against a team like the Canes who have shown real inconsistency this year. The Canes have started to put a more positive foot forward against the Aussie teams, but couldn’t even cover the 22.5 against the Tahs and Rebels. I think Force cover this with relative ease.

Crusaders -31.5
I don’t know if there is a big enough number to put me off the Crusaders after seeing what they did to the Reds this past weekend. May have a bit of a wait to see about a Crusader team points over bet, but will probably just pull the trigger on the -31.5 and bet the team points over as well.

Chiefs -7.5
I just think the gulf in class between the Aussie and NZ teams has become evident. Chiefs are trending upward and the Reds might still be a bit shell-shocked from the 63 points that the Crusaders put on them. Historically the Chiefs have had the Reds’ number, and a single digit handicap is too good for me to pass up.

Brumbies +14.5
I think the Brumbies will relish the chance to get back in front of their home fans and set things right from their trip to NZ. (EDIT: The match is in Auckland, not Canberra. My mistake.) This handicap seems like a bit of an overreaction to the Blues beating up on the weaklings of Aussie rugby. I think the Brumbies we saw hang with the Crusaders is a lot closer to the true Brumbies compared with what we saw last week against the Chiefs. And don’t even get me started on the Blues inconsistencies! I don’t think there is a person among us who hasn’t gotten a kick in the ass from the Blues at some point this season.

If I had to give my pick of the weekend it would be Force +22.5. Love to hear to your guys’ thoughts on this weekends games.

Thanks BuggerBoy welcome and great to have your thoughts

Looking at those lines and comparing to mine I think the Brumbies +14.5 is the standout for me

Welcome BuggerBoy. Just a note on your comments. Brumbies play the Blues at Eden Park and not in Canberra.

Ahh my mistake. The app I use for scores for some reason has the game listed as being in Canberra. I’m still siding with the Brumbies plus, 14.5 just seems like an overreaction to both the Blues playing above themselves the last few weeks and the Brumbies dip against the Chiefs.

Totally agree. Plus 14.5 to the Brumbies is very generous.

Will however look to back the Reds. Chiefs have been travelling ever since their final vs the Saders. From Hamilton to Perth, back to Hamilton and now travel to Queensland.

If firms had put out -50 Crusaders I'd have looked at it and thought, yeah fair.

Bet of the week -31 the Saders.

Agree with the plus on the Force, def a close second, Hurricanes just constantly flatter to deceive, won't shut the Force out, over 3 scores is tasty.

Two Varsity Cup matches today. Strange team picked by Wits. UJ look more settled. Will give UJ +11.5 a decent go.

Big journey for the Force this week, 6 hours from Perth to Auckland, and then another hour from Auckland to Napier. It’s been a long time since they’ve had to travel that far

Ardie Savea and Ruben Love also likely to be back from injury for Hurricanes - key players, especially because Orbyn Ledger has been rubbish at flyhalf all year. Should be big crowd in Napier.

Not the start I was looking for with the Force falling to bits, but on we press!

I suspect things are going to get very ugly for the Tahs in NSW. Found a bet that I love, on top of the Crusaders -31.5 I’ve already taken:

Crusaders over 0.5 tries in the first 10 minutes @ 1.80 (bet365)

**Crusaders have scored a try in the first 10 minutes in 5 consecutive matches, while the Tahs have conceded a try in the first 10 minutes in 5 consecutive matches. Looks a beauty!**

Cheer, Gave up myself, went outside to mow lawn, checked Twitter 2 min to go saying could they complete the unthinkable.

4/4 on my main game punts, but very nervous about Rebels +17.5 tomorrow. Hoping travel has taken some edge off Higlanders.

Well played Rebels backers, what a finish it was with Smith knocking it on when a couple of passes out right would surely have seen them score

I got some o35.5 Highlanders just before kickoff so that helped a bit but disappointed to miss this week's newsletter acca in the last leg - if you followed on that one with Playabets let me know or up to R100 of your stake back in the form of a voucher.

Still some rugby this afternoon but going to take a look at next weeks matches now and will open the new thread with handicap projections later today

Couldn’t believe it, 5 min to go Rebels minus cap was cruising, then Highlanders fast try and wow they surely had to score at end, as you say Brent wrong decision by Smith, just had to pass.

Reds the big influence next 2 weeks with their remaining fixtures blues and Canes.

True South, Blues and Canes have destiny in their own hands and 2 bonus point wins secures a final spot but Reds could have something today - Canes also play the Brumbies this week

Must say I am pleased we have the by 3 tries or more bonus point rule, makes the games much more exciting
