The Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge has become the richest sports fantasy game in South Africa, with over R40 000 000 given away since its 2020 launch. That’s more than R8 000 000 a year and it's completely free to play.
What is the Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge?
The Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge is a free-to-play fantasy horse racing game offering must-be-won prizes and jackpots for all South African and Hong Kong race days.
All you need to enter is a Hollywoodbets account and to get your selections in at least five minutes before the first race on a card. This puts you in contention to win either a share of the Must-Be-Won prize or the whole/share of the All-Or-Nothing prize.
Scoring
So how does scoring work? Simple, you want to find as many winners on any card as possible. Points are awarded based on finishing positions and the total number of runners in a race and the starting price of your selection if it wins.
-
In a nine-horse race: 1st = 9 points, 2nd = 8 points, etc.
-
Bonus points equal to the winner’s starting price (SP) are added to the winner’s score. If your horse wins at 40/1 in a nine-horse race, you’ll get 9 points for the win + 40 for your selection’s starting price.
-
Dead-heats and pulled-up horses are treated with aggregated or minimum points as appropriate.
-
Points are updated cumulatively after each race and finalised by Hollywoodbets.
Must-Be-Won Prize
The Must-Be-Won prize of R5 000 is shared among the top 20 players on the leaderboard at the end of each eight-race meeting.
-
Where races are curtailed or abandoned, the Must-Be-Won prize will be pro-rated based on the number of races completed vs the races carded on the day.
-
This applies so long as a minimum of four races are completed.
-
For example, if six races are completed on an eight-race card, then the total prize money of R3 7 50 (R5 000/8*6) shall be distributed to the top 20 players. on the leaderboard.
All Or Nothing Jackpot
Select all of the winners on a single card and you’ll win the All Or Nothing Jackpot. There are some rules to keep in mind with the Jackpot.
-
The free-to-play Jackpot is capped at R100 000 for South African race meetings.
-
If you place a R50+ bet using the Bet Slip Feature, the Jackpot amount rockets to R1 million, irrespective of the number of horses carded to run, so long as at least eight races are run on the day.
-
On days when seven or fewer races are carded, the All Or Nothing prize will be capped at R100 000, provided you’ve taken a R50+ bet using the bet slip feature.
-
For Hong Kong meetings, you must have taken a R50+ bet slip wager to qualify for the All Or Nothing Jackpot. The Jackpot prize will be R250 000 for meetings with eight or nine completed races, doubling to R500 000 if 10+ races are completed
