BettingDiaryIn Friday’s diary we look at the first two Super Rugby Quarter Finals and the opening match of AFCON 2019 whilst the Cricket World Cup, Formula 1 and Royal Ascot are also in focus.

Super Rugby

The first of the Super Rugby quarter finals sees the Crusaders host the Highlanders in Christchurch. The Saders, who are fresh from a bye and at something like full strength, topped the log at the end of the regular season. They finished 22 points better off than the Highlanders who squeezed into the play offs with a wide margin home win over the Waratahs last week.

The one head to head this season saw the Crusaders come out on top 43-17 in Christchurch and as far as the handicap betting is concerned the defending champions are currently 13.5 point favourites and they get our vote to cover it. Bet on Crusaders v Highlanders here.

Just after midnight Jaguares have home advantage against the Chiefs in what will be the first ever play off for the Argentine side who topped the South African Conference on the back of 9 wins in their last 10 outings. The Chiefs recovered from a poor start to the season, steadily making up ground before sealing a quarter final place with a thumping win over the Rebels in Melbourne last week. When the teams met in Buenos Aires earlier in the season the Chiefs edged it 30-27 and the betting suggests we are in for another close match.

Right now Jagaures are 15/20 to win the game with the draw on offer at 25/1 and the Chiefs can be backed at 12/10. With so many close matches this season an option to consider for a betting interest is our “Tribet” market where a win for either side by no more than 6 points is priced at 17/10 and you have the draw running for you as well. Bet on Jaguares v Chiefs here.

In our weekend bulletin we will look at the remaining quarter finals which see the Bulls travel to take on the Hurricanes in Wellington and the Sharks are in Canberra for a clash with the Brumbies.

Football: AFCON 2019

There are no shortage of options for football punters with group stage matches continuing in Copa America and the games are streamed live on World Sports Betting TV. Meanwhile the AFCON 2019 finals get underway on Friday night with a clash between host nation Egypt and Zimbabwe in Cairo.

Egypt are outright favourites at 4/1 to lift the trophy and they are 2/11 to make a winning start against Zim with the draw at 11/2. If you fancy an upset Zim can be backed at 15/1. Mo Salah is 9/4 to score the first goal of the tournament and 17/20 to find the net “anytime” and a full suite of betting markets are available here.

Cricket World Cup

Friday’s action in the Cricket World Cup sees England bid to take another step towards the semi finals when they clash with Sri Lanka in Leeds.

With 4 wins from 5 matches and skipper Eoin Morgan having crunched 17 sixes in his century against Afghanistan earlier this week the hosts are expected to win with a degree of comfort. We have a full match betting preview on this link and we fancy Sri Lanka’s Isuru Udana to beat his quote in the Player Performance market. Bet on England v Sri Lanka.

Horse Racing

Local horse racing comes from Fairview where the first of 9 races on the polytrack is due off at 12:00. Click here to bet on South African horse racing.

Day 4 of Royal Ascot features two Group 1 races. Ten Sovereigns is currently 11/10 favourite for the Commonwealth Stakes and Hermosa is a warm order at 8/10 for the Coronation Stakes.

Formula 1, French Grand Prix

The French Grand Prix takes place at Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet on Sunday. With Mercedes dominating the season so far Lewis Hamilton is the favourite ahead of qualifying at 8/10. Hamilton is currently 29 points clear of teammate Valtteri Bottas in the Driver Standings having already won in Bahrain, China, Spain, Monaco and most recently Canada.

More than 20 different markets are currently available for this race alone including the ever popular Winning Margin and Fastest Lap.
