WSB Logo Orange 80x80We take a look at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix taking place at the Baku City Circuit this weekend and our betting strategy is influenced by a tempting promotion.

Max Verstappen leads the Championship race by 15 points over his teammate, Sergio Perez, after getting his second win in three starts at the Australian Grand Prix last time out. He was chased home by the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton with Alonso getting his third consecutive 3rd place of the season. Verstappen’s teammate, Perez finished 5th.

Bookmakers have already priced up on “Winner without Verstappen” for the Championship and here you can get Perez at 4/10, Alonso 7/2, Hamilton 5/1 and 28/1 and better the balance.

AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX

Max Verstappen won last season’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix beating off teammate, Sergio Perez by a comfortable 20 seconds with the Mercedes duo of Russell and Hamilton finishing 3rd and 4th respectively.

After 5 runnings of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix we have yet to have a multiple winner.

Suggested Bet: Max Verstappen win at 4/10

This is probably the shortest price favourite I have ever put up in a preview, but let’s face it Verstappen is going to be very hard to beat.

The reason why I am prepared to have a go at the 4/10 though is because of this week’s World Sports Betting Promo where if you back a rider to win and he does so with his teammate finishing 2nd, your winnings will be doubled and given Perez is a past winner here and the 2nd favourite for the race it is clearly a good chance of that.   Fancy Perez can turn the tables on his teammate then you could potentially double his current odds of 9/2.

Suggested Bet: Top 6 Finish, Pierre Gasly at 4/1

Gasly hasn’t had the best of seasons with two 9th’s and a 13th spot, but his 6th place finish here last year at this track catches my eye and I am prepared to take a gamble at the price.
