I went to bed very late on Saturday night or should I rather say early on Sunday morning and decided not to wake up for the Hurricanes game against the Highlanders. My money was firmly on the Hurricanes to win by 7 or more and that included a R500 bet with Oracle Rugby on last week’s HANDICAP SHOW.
I ended up sleeping in till 9 o’clock which is very rare for me and I made sure I didn’t check my phone as I knew I would have hundreds of WhatsApp messages and a good few tweets about the game. I lay on the couch to watch fast forwarding through the breaks in play and at no point did I feel like my bet was going to lose.
The Hurricanes had ample opportunity to put the Highlanders away, but somehow did not take them and in the end the Highlanders came back to snatch a bonus point and lose by 6 and my bet had lost by the smallest of margins. That is rugby for you though and I am just happy I didn’t wake up at 05h30 in the morning for that heartbreak.

There was some great analysis and banter from the likes of Oracle Rugby, Couch Critic and the Conductor, but for my best bet this week I am going to side with Son of a Punt who likes the Reds to start quickly in Brisbane later this morning. These lads are in cracking form and I just hope that my jumping aboard their tip doesn’t slow them down.
