The latest Goodforthegame newsletter penned by @BrentGraham with best bets for the weekend 1st, 2nd March and a 12/1 acca with Pokerbet
I have been sports betting for the better part of 3 decades and I have had some massive ups and downs.
The current run I am on is probably my worst ever (not monetary wise, I was a much bigger punter in my spread betting days) but just because nothing seems to be going my way.
After a terrible weekend where the Lions were in my humble opinion shafted by a shocking display of reffing and England never came close to delivering the points overs I approached Mondays Varsity Cup with a high degree of caution.
IF I DIDNT HAVE BAD LUCK I WOULD HAVE NO LUCK AT ALL
I eventually took an over 59.5 points double on the Tuks and Pukke games and when the 1st leg arrived and there were 56 points in like 62 minutes in the Pukke v Maties game I considered the comeback underway – amazingly no points for the rest of the game.
It got worse when I backed the Highlanders over 36.5 yesterday. They scored 31 1st half points and then failed to add a point in the 2nd half – you must be kidding me!
I’M ALL IN
I have reached the point where the wise thing to do would be to take a break. My name and the word “wise” are seldom used in the same sentence though and today I fire a “get out of jail” punt on the Sharks to beat the Lions in Joburg.
When the handicaps came out on Monday I highlighted the 15/10 in the URC Blog and I went again in the Lions v Sharks Preview at just shy of 14/10.
The Sharks have shortened although not to the extent that I expected and the best price I can currently find is 23/20 on the ML.
There was something about the Sharks win against the Bulls 2 weeks ago that impressed me and I like the team they have selected and the bench looks strong enough to finish the game off.
I have made this a 7 unit play but in reality for me it is far bigger and if it goes belly up up an enforced break from serious betting will be on the cards (of course the THE HANDICAP, Newsletter and previews will keep going)
It is strange that last week when things were going pear shaped I was angry (and my wife can confirm that ABT is not my favourite ref) but today I am calm and composed a bit like a prisoner walking to the electric chair – the money is down and things are out of my hands - what will be will be!
