We take a look at the 5 DSTV Premiership matches taking place on Saturday from a betting angle, including of course the big Soweto derby between Pirates and Chiefs.
ORLANDO PIRATES v KAIZER CHIEFS
Both of these sides are coming off disappointing 1-1 draws in the week, Pirates at home to Galaxy and Chiefs at home to Baroka. I say disappointing because I was on the double that the 2 Soweto Giants would go into this fixture on the back of victory.
Pirates have drawn 50% of their 14 matches this season and goals have been rare with their games just averaging 1.9 each and only 3 of the 14 delivering for over 2.5 goal backers.
Chiefs started the season in poor form, but are unbeaten in their last 5 with 3 wins and 2 draws, those 2 draws have been in their last 2 games though. Chiefs matches are marginally higher scoring than Pirates with games averaging at 2.1 goals each with 6 of the 14 games they have played reaching 3 goals or more.
Pirates have won the 2 recent matches between the sides in the MTN8 Cup, but Chiefs did the double over Pirates in the League last season.

Pirates 14/10
Draw 37/20
Chiefs 12/5
Suggested Bet: Chiefs win at 12/5
The fact that Pirates are in theory at home here makes very little difference and I was amazed to see some 7/2 Chiefs earlier in the week I regret not snapping that up, but at 12/5 I think an improving Chiefs team offers some value against a Pirates side that just has not fired of late.
BLACK LEOPARDS v TS GALAXY
Leopards are 1 position off the foot of the table and they have lost their last 3 games. They are 3 points behind Galaxy who sit 12th.
Leopards have lost their last 3 home games and Galaxy have a reasonable record on the road, only winning 1 of 7, but they have only lost twice drawing the other 4.

Leopards 37/20
Draw 33/20
Galaxy 2/1
Suggested Bet: The draw at 33/20
If you can pick a winner in this game then you are braver than me and I think I will throw the draw into some multiples, but there are certainly bigger fish to fry on Saturday.
BLOEMFONTEIN CELTIC v TSHAKHUMA
Celtic are 13th on the log and they haven’t had a victory in their last 6 games. It is worse for Tshakhuma though as they are rock bottom in 16th and without a win in 9 having lost their last 4. Celtic have only lost once at home in 6 starts this season and Tshakhuma are still looking for their first victory on the road.

Bloem Celtic 12/10
Draw 19/10
Tshakhuma 29/10
Suggested Bet: Bloem Celtic win at 12/10
Celtic appear to be coming to hand while Tshakhuma have really battled in the top division and at current prices Bloem Celtic rank one of the better bets of the weekend.
SUPERSPORT UNITED v SWALLOWS
We would have not expected this to be a top of the table clash earlier in the season with newcomers, Swallows doing remarkably well.
SuperSport have moved to 2nd on the table with a 2-0 away win over Tshakhuma and Swallows are still undefeated, but are playing a few too many draws with 3 of their last 4 games finishing level, most recently though creditable points 1-1 at Sundowns.

SuperSport United 27/20
Draw 17/10
Swallows 11/4
Suggested bet: SuperSport win at 27/20
Swallows have done remarkably well this season in their return to top flight, but I think their unbeaten record is going to end against a SuperSport side that looks serious Title challengers.
GOLDEN ARROWS v MARITZBURG UNITED
Golden Arrows are 6th on the table and they lost their first game of the season, 4-2 away at Cape Town City last time out. Maritzburg United are hovering just above the relegation zone in 14th, but they have lost their last 2 matches, at home to Pirates and Galaxy.

Arrows 11/10
Draw 9/4
Maritzburg 51/20
Suggested Bet: Arrows win at 11/10
Arrows are undefeated at home this season and while Maritzburg had a shock win over Chiefs on the road, they are really battling in all departments.
