ENGLAND

England, the defending champions, have not performed well in this year's World Cup, managing to win only two of the eight games they've played so far. This has left them in 7th place on the table with four points.

In their most recent game against the Netherlands, England won the toss and chose to bat first. They came out firing, starting the innings strongly by putting early runs on the board and losing only one wicket in the first twenty overs. Both Malan and Woakes achieved half-centuries, with Ben Stokes topping the batting and securing a century. This performance allowed England to score a total of 339-9 in 50 overs.

England displayed similar strength in their bowling, taking two wickets in the first ten overs and keeping the run-scoring to a minimum. The pressure was kept on throughout the innings and significant contributions were made by Ali and Rashid, each managing to take three wickets. This dominance allowed them to comfortably bowl out the Netherlands for only 179 runs and a 160 run victory.

PAKISTAN

Pakistan has shown promise in this World Cup, securing four wins out of eight games and placing 5th on the table with 8 points. They remain in with a mathematical chance of making the last 4 but would need a win of biblical proportions here.

In their recent match against New Zealand, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first. They struggled to pick up early wickets, allowing New Zealand's batsmen to take control and accumulate runs. Pakistan only managed to claim a total of six wickets, with three coming from Wasim. As a result, New Zealand posted a massive total of 401 runs in the allotted 50 overs.

Despite a challenging start, Pakistan made a strong comeback with an outstanding performance from Zaman, who scored 126 runs, and Azam, who contributed 66 runs. However, the game was called off in the 26th over due to heavy rain, leading to the implementation of the DLS system to determine the outcome. Pakistan was ultimately declared the winner by 21 runs keeping their faint hopes of staying in the tournament alive.

England 17/20

Pakistan 1/1

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The last time these two sides faced each other was in a three-game series in England in 2021 with the hosts winning 3-0.

Suggested Bet: Fakhar Zaman to score more than 27.5 runs at 17/20

Zaman has run into some good form and I think he will be key to Pakistan’s chances of winning this game.

Suggested Bet: Pakistan to win at 1/1

Pakistan has for my money performed better than England in this World Cup and but for a couple of close losses they could be right in the playoff mix.
