BettingDiaryBaku City Circuit in Azerbaijan plays host to this week’s Formula 1 Grand Prix and all eyes will be on the battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen breathed new life into the Championship race when he rode his Red Bull Racing-Honda to victory in Monaco two weeks ago.   Carlos Sainz came second in his Ferrari with the McLaren-Mercedes of Lando Norris completing the podium. Lewis Hamilton finished back in 7th spot, the first time this season that he and Verstappen have not both stood on the two top steps of the podium.

Verstappen has taken a slight lead in the Drivers Championship, 4 points ahead of Hamilton, but Hamilton is the 6/10 favourite with Verstappen on offer at 12/10 and 100/1 and better the balance.

This will be the 4th edition of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with last year’s race being cancelled due to COVID. We have had 3 different winners to date with Bottas winning in 2019 and Hamilton in 2018. Daniel Ricciardo won the first ever GP at this track causing a big upset back in 2017.

The track lends itself to exciting racing with a long straight and wide track allowing plenty of space for overtaking before looping into the tighter street circuit.

Max Verstappen 27/20

Lewis Hamilton 27/20

Valtteri Bottas 9/1

Sergio Perez 10/1

Lando Norris 40/1

Charles Leclerc 50/1

100/1 and better the balance

Suggested Bet: Max Verstappen win at 27/20

There is no surprise to see Verstappen and Hamilton disputing favouritism, in fact they are exactly the same price at the time of writing. Verstappen must certainly take plenty of confidence into this one and the way the Red Bull is going I think he can grab another victory. Given that he hasn’t finished outside the Top 2 all season, the fact that World Sports Betting have a money back in free bets special should he run 2nd makes this a cracking bet – see the promo below.

Additional Bet: Points Finish, Sebastian Vettel at 1/1

Vettel had comfortably his best race of the season in Monaco finishing 5th and hopefully he has turned the corner and can get into the Top 10 again.
