INDIA

India opened their World Cup campaign against Australia, where they lost the toss and were asked to bowl.

They quickly applied pressure to the Australian side, with Jasprit Bumrah taking an early wicket. Maintaining the momentum, they restricted Australia to a score of just 199 runs before bowling them out in the last over. Ravindra Jadeja delivered a notable performance, claiming three wickets in the 10 overs he bowled.

After losing three early wickets, India consolidated with a strong partnership between Kohli and Rahul both scoring half-centuries. They comfortably chased down Australia's 199 runs in the 41st over, losing only four wickets in the process to get their campaign off to a winning start.

AFGHANISTAN

In Afghanistan’s first game, they faced Bangladesh where they lost the toss and were sent in to bat.

They began the game with a promising partnership before losing their first wicket on 47 in the 9th over. Things took a downturn from that point onwards, as they struggled to establish any significant partnerships and were eventually bowled out for 156 runs in the 38th over. The only noteworthy performance came from Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who scored 47 runs.

Despite a relatively strong start, where they took two early wickets, Afghanistan couldn't build enough pressure. Bangladesh chased the runs down after 34 overs and with 6 wickets in hand. There were no standout performances from the bowlers.

India 1/8

Afghanistan 5/1

HEAD-TO-HEAD

These two teams have only met in three ODIs, with India winning two and the third ending in a draw. Their most recent encounter was at the 2019 World Cup, where India emerged victorious with an 11-run win.

Suggested Bet: Top bowler Ravindra Jadeja at 9/1

He looked good against Australia taking 3-28 in 10 overs and with the wicket likely to suit he looks worth a play here.

Suggested Bet: Afghanistan to be under 24.5 runs at the first dismissal at 17/20

In their recent games, India has consistently taken early wickets and I am backing them to continue this trend against an Afghanistan team that will be looking to avoid being bogged down early.
