BettingDiaryA round up of the betting for the major sporting events taking place on Friday 14th June including Super Rugby, Cricket World Cup and the Fifa Women’s World Cup.

Super Rugby

It’s the final round of the regular season and the outcome of Friday’s games will shed more light on the likely composition of the play offs.

The Highlanders need a handsome win against the Waratahs in the first match of the day but even that may not be enough to secure a quarter final place if later results go against them. The Highlanders are currently 19.5 point favourites on the handicap even though they have been hard to catch right this season. However, with the Tahs having fallen out of play off contention we take the view the home side will start well and the Highlanders to lead by 10 points or more at the half time interval gets our vote at current odds of 9/10. The second match sees the Rebels host the Chiefs in Melbourne. The home side come into the round just about clinging on to a play off place whilst the Chiefs are looking for a victory that would probably see them force their way into the quarter finals. The Rebels have faded in the second half of the campaign and the Chiefs, who have Brodie Retallick back from injury, have the momentum.

The match result betting suggests this could go either way although our preference is for the Chiefs to prevail at current odds of 9/10.

In our weekend bulleting we will look at the crucial SA derby matches as the Stormers host the Sharks and the Bulls clash with the Lions so be sure to take note of our special promotion.

Cricket World Cup

Southampton is the venue for Friday’s World Cup cricket where West Indies take aim at host nation England. A full match preview is available on this link and we look to the top bat markets for each side with Pooran for Windies and Morgan for England providing the betting interest.

England are currently 1/3 favourites to chalk up a third win in 4 matches whilst West Indies can be backed at 53/20 to boost their hopes of a semi final place. With some awesome hitting power on view the 6’s markets are bound to attract attention from punters. West Indies are 9/10 to clear the ropes more times than England and a combined total of 15 or more 6’s across the 2 innings can be backed at 8/11.

Horse Racing

Local horse racing comes from Fairview in the afternoon where a 9 race card will be staged on the turf track. Racing gets underway at 12:00.

There is also racing from Greyville where the first of 8 races jumps at 16:55. The feature race is the Post Merchants which is due off at 20:35 and at the time of writing the Justin Snaith trained Kasimir is your favourite at 19/10.

The latest ante post betting for the Durban July sees Hawwaam favourite at 21/10 ahead of Do It Again (15/4), Rainbow Bridge (5/1) and Barahin (7/1) and you can get 15/1 and better outside of the 4 market leaders.

Cycling

Stage 6 of the Criterium du Dauphine has no fewer than 8 categorized climbs on a 229km route. Chris Froome’s crash when preparing for the ITT on Wednesday has not only ruled him out of the Dauphine but also the Tour de France. The likes of Adam Yates, Jakob Fuglsang, Thibaut Pinot and Nairo Quintana will be fighting out the General Classification over the 3 remaining stages.
