BettingDiaryA round up of the betting for the major sporting events taking place on Thursday 13th June including the US Open at Pebble Beach, Cricket World Cup and the Women’s World Cup where Banyana Bayana are in action.

Golf:

Day 1 of the 119th edition of the US Open at Pebble Beach is our primary focus on Thursday. In Wednesday's bulletin we highlighted Dustin Johnson to win outright with Patrick Cantley taken as a top 10 finisher but there are many more betting markets available including the top regional finishers.

As far as the South African challengers are concerned the betting to be Top SA Player currently looks like this.

Louis Oosthuizen 22/10

Branden Grace 7/2

Erik Van Rooyen 7/2

Justin Harding 11/2

Dean Burmester 8/1

Ernie Els 12/1

Justin Walters 25/1

Merrick Bremner 28/1

Jovan Rebula 33/1

Of the market leaders Van Rooyen is arguably in the best form although you could do worse than have a small and speculative play on Ernie Els, second to none in experience and there have been signs that he is still working on his game.

For those who like a patriotic punt we also have a “South African Specials” market where you can get 4/1 about any SA player to Place Top 6 and 25/1 for any South African to win the tournament.

The first Round 3 balls markets are also up and as far as some of the marquee groups are concerned Tiger Woods is 14/10 to fare better than Jordan Spieth (18/10) and Justin Rose (2/1).

Dustin Johnson is 5/6 to beat Phil Mickelson (22/10) and Graeme Mcdowell (3/1)

Rory Mcilroy has Jon Rahm and Marc Leishman for company and we fancy Rory at even money to win this 3 ball.

Cricket World Cup

India clash with New Zealand in Cricket World Cup and a full match preview is available on this link. Both teams are unbeaten although New Zealand’s 3 victories came against the weaker sides whilst India have been clinical in beating South Africa and Australia. India start as favourites, currently trading at 40/85 and for a betting interest we have looked to the Player Performance market with Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson taken to run up over 45.5 points at odds of 9/10

Football

Banyana Banyana are in action in the Women’s World Cup and their second match of the tournament is a Group B clash with China which kicks off at 21:00. South Africa’s opening game ended in a 3-1 defeat to Spain but the ladies performed with great credit and took the lead with a superb goal from Thembi Kgatlana. China also lost their first group match, going down 1-0 to Germany.

In the match result betting Banyana can be backed at 25/4 to win this game with draw on offer at 16/5 and China are firm favourites at 9/20. With both teams playing catch up in the group over 2.5 total match goals could be worth an interest at around even money.

Cycling

Stage 5 of the Criterium du Dauphine could be another opportunity for the sprinters and if it turns out that way Sam Bennett will be tough to beat after he took out Tuesday’s bunch sprint with a degree of comfort.
