We take a look at the 2 Champions League Last 16 first leg matches taking place on Wednesday night and suggest a bet in each.
PORTO v JUVENTUS – Click here to bet
Porto only lost 1 of their group matches and in their 3 home games they won 2 and drew 1, that draw coming against Manchester City. 4 of Porto’s 6 matches had under 2.5 goals in them and 5 of the 6 games saw only 1 team find the back of the net. Porto are undefeated in their last 7 matches in all competitions, but they have drawn 4 in a row in League and Cup actions domestically.
Juventus ended their group campaign with a 3-0 win away at Barcelona and Barcelona was the only blemish on their Champions League group stage record when they lost 2-0 to them at home earlier in the campaign. Juventus games are consistent in that 2 or 3 goals were scored in 5 of the 6 matches.
BETTING
FC Porto 61/20
Draw 47/20
Juventus 21/20
Suggested Bet: Total goals aggregated, 2-3 goals at 9/10
As mentioned above this is a common occurrence in Juventus games and I am expecting a fairly tight encounter early and don’t expect too many goals. If pushed to pick a winner I would be leaning towards Juventus.
SEVILLA v DORTMUND – Click here to bet
Sevilla won 4, drew 1 and lost 1 of their 6 matches in the group stages and that loss did come at home against Chelsea. Their last 4 group stage matches all delivered for over 2.5 goal backers. Sevilla are currently in cracking form winning their last 8 matches domestically in both League and Cup.
Dortmund came through their group campaign with a similar record, 4 wins, a draw and a loss. That loss coming up front away at Lazio, but after that they were undefeated and they won their 2 remaining away games at Club Brugge and Zenit.
These sides met in the Europa League last season with Sevilla drawing 2-2 when they met at home and they beat Dortmund 1-0 on the road.
BETTING
Sevilla 27/20
Draw 49/20
Dortmund 21/10
Suggested Bet: Over 2.5 goals at 8/10
I am quite happy to be taking this price if we get 3 goals or more and Sevilla group games tended to be high scoring and I am expecting goal mouth action at both ends and over 2.5 goal backers would have collected in Dortmund’s last 6 matches domestically.
