BettingDiaryAfter dominating the two match Test Series, South Africa embark on a 5 match T20 Series against the West Indies starting on Saturday. We look at the game from a betting angle.

This match takes place in Grenada, in fact all 5 of the games are going to take place at the same venue, namely the National Cricket Stadium in St George’s.

While a few of the Proteas players may carry confidence from the Test Series into this T20 Series, the fact these days is that countries field very different sides for the different formats and the West Indies are certainly much stronger in the shorter format of the game. Looking down their squad list some notable names appear, including Kieron Pollard, Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo, three veterans who have delivered for the West Indies on the World stage many times.

South Africa also have a strong squad especially on the bowling front where the fast men did the job in the Test Series will be looking to do likewise in the 20 over version.

Last time the West Indies hosted a series was back in March of this year and they beat Sri Lanka 2-1.

South Africa’s last series was a disappointing 3-1 loss to Pakistan at home and South Africa have a win rate of just 25% in their last 16 T20’s

West Indies 15/20

South Africa 23/20

Suggested Bet: South Africa win at 23/20

Yes, the Proteas recent record is poor, but they have put a strong squad together for the series and the South African attack is certainly capable of putting this West Indies batting order under pressure. I expected this to be priced as a choice game and am happy to take anything above even money South Africa.

Suggested Bet: Man of the Match, De Kock at 7/1

The top of this market is dominated by West Indies players, but at the very top of the betting boards we find De Kock who is coming out of the test series in great form. He looks a lot more relaxed since being relieved of the captaincy and I am backing him to fire in the 1st T20.
