SpursStadiumFive English Premier League matches take place on Saturday 19th August and our focus is on Liverpool v Bournemouth, Spurs v Manchester United and Manchester City v Newcastle

Liverpool 1 / 4 Draw 5.76/1 Bournemouth 98/10

Liverpool opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Chelsea. Luis Diaz gave them the lead on 18 minutes but Chelsea were level by half time and although it was an entertaining enough match there was to be no further scoring. Klopp opted to start with Nunez on the bench with Gakpo and Jota starting along with Mo Salah, Diaz and new signings Szoboszlai and Mac Allister . In midweek Liverpool missed out on midfield target Caciedo who opted to join Chelsea and at the time of writing Southampton's Lavia also looked likely to go to Stamford Bridge rather than Anfield.

Bournemouth started with a 1-1 draw at home to West Ham. The first half failed to produce a goal, Bournemouth fell behind just after the break before Solanke rescued a point on 82 minutes for new coach Andoni Iraola.

Early last season Bournemouth were thrashed 9-0 at Anfield but they beat Liverpool 1-0 in the return.

The Verdict:

Liverpool have so many goal threats in the ranks and one would imagine they will have too much for Bournemouth. I'm looking for a goalscorer and whilst Klopp could make a change or two I expect Luis Diaz to start. He was on target last week and scored twice in the corresponding fixture last season. He looks back to his best after missing a chunk of 22/23 through injury and gets the vote to pop up anytime.

Bets: Anytime goalscorer Luis Diaz at 14/10 with Playabets

Spurs 18/10 Draw 27/10 Manchester United 14/10

The build up to Ange Postecoglou's first game in charge of Spurs was dominated by Harry Kane's transfer to Bayern Munich. The new coach opted to go with Richarlison up front for the trip to Brentford which ended in a 2-2 draw. All the goals were scored in the first half with Spurs taking an early lead through Romero before Brentford scored twice and Emerson Royal equalized. Spurs pushed for a winner after the break but there was no further scoring.

United had to wait until Monday night for their opening match at home to Wolves and although they started overwhelming favourites at just shy of 1 / 4 they had to wait until the 76th minute for Varane to score the only goal of the game. New keeper Onana was fortunate not to concede a late penalty and United were far from convincing against a side who have been tipped to struggle this season.

This fixture finished 2-2 last season whilst United won the first league meeting 2-0 at Old Trafford.

The Verdict:

I wasn't at all impressed with United last week and I'm open minded about the outcome of this one. I will look for a goalscorer again and although Richarlison started in the Kane role last week I think Spurs might want to see Son pop up in central positions more frequntly and hopefully he can get on the scoresheet.

Bets: Anytime goalscorer Son at 22/10 with Playabets

Manchester City 7/10 Draw 3.05/1 Newcastle 3.76/1

City's defence of the EPL title started with a 3-0 win away to newly promoted Burnley. Haaland, who hit the net 36 times for City in the EPL last season alone, took just 4 minutes to open the scoring, he added a second before half time and Rodri got the third on 75 minutes. It was a comfortable win for City but they lost De Bruyne to injury early doors and he will reportedly be absent for up to 4 months. In midweek City beat Sevilla in the Super Cup on a penalty shoot out after a 1-1 draw in Athens.

Newcastle finished an excellent fourth last season and they put an early marker down in their opening match with a 5-1 demolition of Aston Villa. Tonali scored early on debut and after Villa levelled soon after the first of a brace of goals for Isak put Newcastle 2-1 up after just 16 minutes. The remainder of the goals came in the second half with Isak's second supplemented by strikes from Wilson and Harvey Barnes on debut.

Early last season these teams drew 3-3 at St. James Park and City won the return in Manchester 2-0.

The Verdict:

City coasted to victory at Burnley but whether the midweek trip to Athens might have taken something out of the legs is open to debate.

Newcastle looked really good against Villa and I fancy they can contribute to the scoring. A game of at least 3 goals with both sides on target is my play.

Bets: Total goals and both teams to score? Over 2.5 and (yes) at even money with Playabets
