Football ManCity120Manchester City host Newcastle in our featured FA Cup quarter final on Saturday and not surprisingly City are short priced favourites.

Man City

Current FA Cup holders City booked their quarter final place in some style, thrashing Luton 6-2 away from home with Haaland scoring 5 goals. In the fourth round just one goal, scored late on by Ake, handed City a 1-0 win at Spurs and in the third round they romped to a 5-0 home win over Championship side Huddersfield.

City have also made it through to the UCL quarter finals and they played out a 1-1 draw away to Liverpool in their most recent EPL outing. That result at Anfield leaves City in third spot, just 1 point behind Arsenal and Liverpool in the the title race.

City have faced Newcastle 3 times already this season. They won both league meetings, 1-0 in Manchester early in the campaign and 3-2 at St. James Park in mid January. City did lose to Newcastle 1-0 in the EFL Cup towards the end of September.

Newcastle

Newcastle have had to travel in all 3 of the previous rounds and they were taken all the way to penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw with Blackburn in the fifth round (1-1 90 mins and aet). In Round 4 they came away from Fulham with a 2-0 win and when they came up against local rivals Sunderland in the third round they turned what looked a potentially awkward away tie into a one sided contest and ran out 3-0 winners.

Newcastle are tenth in the EPL standings standings, 13 points behind fifth placed Spurs and 7 shy of sixth placed Manchester United. A Europa League qualification place remains a possibility but this competition represents the last remaining chance for silverware this season.

The Betting

At the time of writing City are trading at 1 / 4 to win the game with the draw priced at 56/10 and Newcastle can be backed at around 88/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 0.42/1 and it's 17/20 for both teams to score

The Verdict

City will be without their first choice keeper Ederson and quite possibly De Bruyne (left of of Belgium squad) but their strength in depth is pretty awesome. Newcastle are still missing some key men but much of their season rests on this and I expect them to give a good account and score. Over 2.5 and btts yes is where I'm heading.

For a goalscorer I'm with Isak to pop up for the visitors anytime
