Netherlands

The Netherlands recovered from being a goal down to Turkey at half time of their quarter final to run out 2-1 winners. Stefan de Vrij hauled them level on 70 minutes and an own goal six minutes later put them in the semi's.

The Netherlands had way too much for Romania in the Round of 16. A first half goal from Gakpo and two late strikes from Donyell Malen secured a comfortable 3-0 win.

The Dutch needed the best third place finisher safety net in order to take their place in the knockout rounds. A record of 1 win, 1 draw and 1 defeat saw them come in 2 points behind Austria and 1 shy of France whilst Poland were eliminated. They lost 3-2 to Austria in their final group match, they never led and although Gakpo and Depay twice brought them level Austria ran out deserved winners. Earlier they played out a goalless draw with France and Gakpo and Wout Weghorst helped them to a 2-1 win over Poland in their first match.

England

England once again sailed close to the wind before eventually getting past Switzerland, 5-3 on spot kicks in the quarter finals. We had to wait 75 minutes for the first goal which went the way of the Swiss but Saka equalized 5 minutes later and the remainder of normal time and the whole of extra time failed to produce a goal as the game finished locked up at 1-1.

England survived a huge scare against Slovakia in the Ro16. They were 1-0 down deep into injury time when Jude Bellingham found the net to send the game into extra time, Harry Kane quickly put England 2-1 up and that's the way it finished.

England were hardly convincing but they topped Group C unbeaten with 1 win and 2 draws to finish 2 points clear of Denmark and Slovenia whilst Serbia were fourth. They played out a 0-0 draw with Slovenia in their final group outing, Harry Kane gave them the lead in a 1-1 draw with Denmark and in their first action of the tournament an early Bellingham goal was enough to see off Serbia 1-0.

The Betting

The Netherlands are 21/10 to win this match in regulation time, a draw is 18/10 and England can be backed at 16/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 15/10 and it's 21/20 for both teams to find the net in regulation time.

There are plenty of price boosts on offer including England to win and both teams to score? (yes) at 5.75/1 from 4.75/1 and Bellingham to have 2 or more shots on

target at 6.75/1 from 4.75/1.

The Verdict:

England remain unbeaten but they have made really hard work of the reaching this stage whilst the Dutch have been a bit of a mixed bag in terms of their displays so it looks a tough call.

I appreciate it's a semi final but 4 of 6 games involving the Ditch have delivered 3 goals or more in total and whilst goals have been scarce in England games this might turn out more open than the betting suggests.

I'm not being lazy here but those 2 prices do seem fair enough to me for conservative stakes.

Bellingham to have 2 or more shots on target at 6.75/1 from 4.75/1 with Sportingbet
