Race 1
GET IMPRESSED showed good improvement in his comeback run over 1400m on this course. He took the lead at the 100m mark, but was caught late by Lexican Point. The son of Vercingetorix is a progressive type and should be at home over 1250m. He jumps from pole position and is the horse to beat.
SPEED RACER‘S last three starts before given a 13-week break were good. He would have strengthened up during his time off the track. He shows good speed in his races and if not in need of this outing, he may be hard to peg back.
LIGHTNING GLOW ran a decent race on debut before given a 20-week break. The well-bred son of Vercingetorix would have matured and strengthened up in his time off the track. With a bit of luck in running, he should show the natural improvement.
Race 2
GIMMETHATPEARL is an unraced daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Justin Snaith stable with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle. She does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this type of field. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
NILE THE BOSS stayed on when third over 1000m on this course last time. She will strip a much fitter horse and with luck in running, she should be the first raced runner past the post.
ROCKING PEONIE ran a fair race on debut over 1000m on this course. She understandably raced green, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Captain Of All will love the extra 250m on offer and with luck in running, she should make the natural improvement.
Race 3
SONG OF MYSELF produced an eye-catching debut effort over this C&D. She showed good speed, but was caught late. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Canford Cliffs would have gained from the experience and with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle, she should be the one to beat.
TRES CHIC finished 1.55 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
NIGHT VIGIL should have finished closer to the winner on debut as she was held up for a run from the 300m mark to the 200m mark. The daughter of Vercingetorix would have come on from the run and should love the extra 250m on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4
CONNERY is the best bet on the programme. He was unlucky not to have won his last start as he raced wide around the turn. However, the manner in which he finished off his race up the straight was eye- catching. The son of What A Winter will love the rise to 1250m. Raymond Danielson retains the ride and with a bit of luck in running, he should take a power of beating.
IGUGULETHU showed very good improvement when second in his last start over this C&D. He was green around the turn, but finished off his race well. The son of Erupt is a progressive type and may have more to come.
MOONACRES finished 1.75 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 5
EPIKLEROS has shown good improvement in each of her races to date. She was running on when third over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is the stable elect with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle. From her good draw of two, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
PRINCESS IZZY showed good improvement when second in her last start over 1250m on this course. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will love the rise to 1400m and she is one of the leading contenders.
TEQUILA SKY showed good improvement when second over 1250m on this course. She finished 2.05 lengths behind the second choice on debut. With luck from her wide draw, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 6
GREEN WITH ENVY caught the eye when winning on debut over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He ran on strongly that day and got up on the line. The son of Gimmethegreenlight returns from a 15-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He does take on stronger, but looks to be above average and can remain unbeaten.
RAPIDASH stayed on when second over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He returns from an 11-week break, during which time he was gelded. He jumps from pole position and if not in need of the run, he can go close.
BRIGHT BLUE SKY rallied late when winning his last start over 1250m on this course. That was his first start for the Gareth van Zyl stable and he would have come on from the outing. He meets similar company this afternoon and can follow up.
Race 7
SENSO UNICO is much better than his last start in the Grade 3 World Pool Gold Cup. His penultimate run in the Grade 3 DStv Gold Vase was decent. He has won twice from three starts on this course. Bernard Fayd’Herbe is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
TRIPLE TIME rallied late when winning his last start over 1600m on this course. He is the stable elect with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle and can follow up.
THE FUTURIST set the pace over 1950m last time, but was caught late by Solar Power. He returns from a well-deserved 13-week break. He has won twice and finished second once from six starts on this course. He is likely to have his own way in front and may be hard to peg back.
Race 8
RIO QUERARI is better than his last start in the Grade 1 Golden Horse Sprint. He returns from a 16- week break which may have done him the world of good. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from as many starts on this course. He is the class horse in the race and if not in need of the run, he should notch up his eighth career victory.
MUFASA‘S last start can be ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. He won his only attempt over this C&D, three runs ago. The son of What A Winter carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and is a threat.
MR COBBS is better than his last start over 1100m. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. On best form shown, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 9
MOJO MAN followed up his maiden win with an impressive victory over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He showed good speed that day and found extra where it matters most. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The blinkers have done the trick on the son of Rafeef and he can notch up the hat-trick.
BENJAMIN should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was held up for a run at the 250m mark and had to be switched. He drops back to 1000m and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
BLUFF ON BLUFF took the lead at the 100m mark last time, but was caught late by Captain Arrow. He meets a similar type of field and should be competitive.
