RACE 1

ALADO‘S HABIT is better than her last start as she was reported to be coughing post-race. Her debut effort when third over this C&D catches the eye. The daughter of Alado has scope and from her good draw of four, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure. 

MISS PRIOR has finished third in her last three starts, the latest of which was over 1100m on this course. The step up to 1200m is a slight concern, but she is in a good space and cannot be ignored. 

FLYING SOLO ran a fair race over 1000m at the Vaal last time. She is having her first run for the Kelly Mitchley stable. If settled into her new surroundings, there should be improvement to come from her. 

RACE 2

AMERICAN DREAM was an easy winner of his last start over 1400m on this course. He set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. He would have come on from the run and if seeing out 1600m, he can follow up with another victory. 

LEGAL THRILLER ran a good race when third over 1200m on this course last time. His record over this distance is a slight concern, but he is in a good space and can feature. 

GOLD GUNNER is better than his last start against stronger company over this C&D. He finished 2.8 lengths behind UNION ROSE in his penultimate start. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. 

RACE 3

SPLICETHEMAINBRACE is the top bet on the programme. She is better than her last start in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas. She was an easy winner of her penultimate run over 1400m on this course. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is the class horse in this contest and should take a power of beating. 

HAPPY HOLLY finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough for the tables to be turned. 

IGNITETHELIGHT is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1600m on this course. She does take on much stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and can show. 

RACE 4

WALKONTHEWILDSIDE is better than her last start over 1200m on this course. She was slow into stride, raced wide around the turn and was reported to be coughing post-race. The manner in which she finished off her debut outing suggests that she will love the rise to 1400m. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is back against her own sex and she may be the one to side with. 

ICE CAP rallied late when second over this C&D last time. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

ELUSIVE MATA finished 0.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. 

Race 5

A BIT CHILLY was not beaten far in his last start over 1200m on this course. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day suggests that he will be at home over 1400m. The son of Last Winter is having his peak run today and from his good draw of three, he may be the one to side with in this line-up. 

MR BELVEDERE was an easy winner in his local debut over 1300m on this course. He does take on stronger, but has found a new lease on life since relocating to the Eastern Cape and may still have the upper hand. 

HOLOCENE is better than his last start over 1200m on this course. Richard Fourie steps into the saddle and on best form shown, he should feature in this field. 

Race 6

WHATEVER NEXT has fair recent form lines to his credit. He stayed on at the finish over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Usa’s Hope. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He drops back in class and can notch up his seventh-career victory. 

COOL CAT ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top selection fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

COOL WINTER was running on when third over 1000m on this course last time. Kendall Minnie is likely to switch him off near the rear of the field from the widest draw and he will be mowing down the frontrunners. 

RACE 7

DARLING HARBOUR is having her first run for the Juan Nel stable. She is better than her last start at the Vaal as she was reported to be not striding out. It must be noted that Mount Etna has come out and won again since. The daughter of Pomodoro takes a drop in class and if taking to the polytrack, it would be no surprise to see her in the winner’s enclosure. 

LADY ZULTANITE tried hard when second over 2000m on this course last time. She meets a similar line-up this afternoon and merits healthy respect. 

CANFORD QUEEN was unlucky not to have won her last start over 1600m on this course. Interestingly, the blinkers have been removed for this outing. With a bit of luck in running, she should be involved at the finish.

RACE 8

SWEET NOTHINGS showed massive improvement in her local debut over 1200m on this course. She raced with her tongue over the bit which makes the effort that much more encouraging. She would have come on from the run and should love the rise to 1600m. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has scope and there should be more to come. 

ANGEL OF MY HEART has fair recent form lines to her credit. She stayed on when fourth over 2200m last time. She has cracked a good draw of two and is one of the leading contenders. 

LADY SONATINE showed very good improvement in her last start over 1400m on this course. The daughter of Talk Of The Town should be ideally suited to 1600m and she must be considered
