This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is HIS MASTER‘S VOICE from the Yogas Govender stable. He set the pace over 1600m last time, but was outrun late by Tobacconist. He meets the right field this afternoon and from pole position, may be hard to peg back.
THE GREEN GALLANT lost two lengths leaving the start last time, raced wide around the turn but stayed on to finish third. He has no issues with the drop back to 1900m and if jumping on terms, he should pose a threat.
KING OF SEVILLE finished 3.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned. He tries the 1900m for the first time which may suit him well.
Race 3
OCEAN PALACE is the best bet on the card. She produced a promising debut effort over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She was slow into stride, understandably raced green but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. The daughter of Potala Palace would have gained from the experience and if suited to the polytrack, she should take a power of beating.
VERMACILLI‘S last two starts have been good. The horse that finished fourth in her last start has come out and won since. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will help her chances.
PURPLE FLOWER has produced two fair efforts to date. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1400m. She has plenty of scope and may have good improvement to come.

MALCOLM‘S DREAM was an easy winner of her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She took the lead at the 300m mark, quickened away from the field and won with a ton in hand. She won her only attempt over this C&D. The 5yo mare is in a good space and from her good draw of two, she can follow up.
PETIT VERDOT may not have seen out the 1750m last time. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts on this course. She takes a slight drop-in class and is one of the leading contenders.
IMPERIOUS DESTINY showed good guts when winning her last start over this C&D. She set the pace that day and fought back well to hold all challengers at bay. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She does have a wide draw to contend with, but is likely to use her early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that is enough for the tables to be turned. Gavin Lerena takes the ride and if allowed to dictate his own terms in front, he may be hard to peg back.
JP TWO THOUSAND hails from the visiting Fabian Habib stable. His last two starts over 1450m have been fair. He has won twice and finished second once from seven starts over this distance. If all went well with his travels, he should be competitive.
