Race 1

CASINO ACE is lightly raced and his last three starts have been good. He showed good speed over this C&D, but was outrun late. Work rider Mzolisi Njengele retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

TAM’S KNIGHT produced an encouraging debut effort over 1200m on this course. He raced from just off the pace, but did not go on with the effort. He would have come on from the run and should have no issues with the drop to 1000m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should pose a threat.

CAPTAIN COOL’S last three starts have been fair, despite excuses. The son of Captain Of All has shown improvement with the blinkers fitted. He is a progressive type and can finish in the placings.

Race 2

Seven of the nine runners in this contest are first timers and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. LEAD THE CHARGE is an unraced son of Lancaster Bomber from the Mike and Adam Azzie stable with Richard Fourie booked to ride. He is related to two-time winner Ready To Charge. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note.

IMPACT INVESTOR is a son of Gimmethegreenlight from the Justin Snaith stable with Grant van Niekerk doing duty. If not in need of this outing, he may be involved in the fight to the finish.

WORLD OF PLEASURE hails from the Vaughan Marshall stable and he is a son of One World. He is related to four-time winner Light That Loose. Bernard Fayd’Herbe is booked to ride and he should give a good account of himself.

Race 3

BABELICIOUS produced a promising debut effort over this C&D, in the Non-Black Type Kaapse Klopse Summer Coronation Plate. She raced from just off the pace and stayed on to finish second. The daughter of Var would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

IN THE GREEN ZONE was green in running on debut, but found her feet and ran on nicely at the business end. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on from the run and she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

GIMMEFABULOUS should have finished closer on debut as she was cramped for galloping room at the 100m mark. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and with luck in running, she should be competitive.

Race 4

PRETTY PRECIOUS made the expected natural improvement when second in her last start over this C&D. The daughter of Potala Palace is a progressive type. Brett Crawford and Luyolo Mxothwa are in hot form. She should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

KYALAMI GIRL produced two good second place finishes before given a lengthy 47-week break. Trainer Candice Bass-Robinson is no stranger to bringing back her horses fit for their return and she is one of the leading contenders.

HAMPSTEAD HEATH finished 1 length behind the top choice on debut. She lost a length leaving the start, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of Rafeef would have gained from the experience and she should make the natural progression.

Race 5

ENGLISH MISTRESS should have finished closer in her last start over 2000m as she was carried outwards at the 200m mark. The blinkers have done the trick on the daughter of Master Of My Fate. She jumps from a good draw of three and in this field, she can shed her maiden tag.

DEVILISHLYGORGEOUS stayed on when sixth over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Grant van Niekerk is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

BASIC MANEUVERS was not beaten far in her last start over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She will be at home over the mile and should strip much fitter.

Race 6

COSMIC EVENT showed signs of a form return in his last start over 1600m on this course. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. On best form shown, he should notch up his third-career victory.

TAMARISK TREE was running on when third over 1800m on this course last time. He will love the rise to 2000m and is one of the leading contenders.

AFRICAN TORRENT finished 0.05 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 7

HOLDING THUMBS made the natural improvement when winning his maiden at the second time of asking over 1600m on this course. He quickened up well that day and won going away. The son of Vercingetorix takes on stronger, but he looks to be above average and should be up to the task at hand.

MAGIC VERSE followed up his maiden win with another victory over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.

MARSHALL FIELD finished 2.25 lengths behind WEATHER KING last time. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Ideal World will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 8

This is a weak Cape C Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is ESCARPMENT from the Piet Botha stable with JP van der Merwe in the saddle. He should have finished closer in his post-maiden run over 1400m. The son of Canford Cliffs will love the drop back to 1000m and he has plenty of scope. With luck in running, he may be the one to side with in this line-up.

WYLIE JACK is better than his last start over 1100m. He won a game race in his penultimate run over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SWIFT ACTION has fair recent form lines to his name. He finished 3.8 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 9

TRES CHIC was doing her best work late over 1100m last time. She finished 1 length behind GIMMETHEWALTZ that day and is 1kg better off at the weights. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will love the extra 100m on offer. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners under JP van der Merwe.

GIMMETHEWALTZ was running on when second over 1100m on this course. Her only victory came under Aldo Domeyer over this C&D. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

ON BOARD showed good speed when second in her last start against male company. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Vercingetorix is is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

Race 10

ITSRAININGWILLIAM’S last two starts have been good. He raced from a handy position over this C&D last time, but was outrun late. It must be noted that Promettere has come out and won again since. He comes into this race well-weighted and should notch up his third-career victory.

SEEKING THE ONE finished 0.4 lengths behind GALLIC DREAM last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

GALLIC DREAM stayed on when third over this C&D last time. He does have work to do at the weights, but is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand
