Race 5: ERIK THE RED (1)
Race 8: SUPER SILVANO (2)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: SH BOOM (9)
Jockey: Mbhele S  - Trainer: Bass-Robinson

SH BOOM made the natural improvement when finishing second over 1250m at Durbanville last time. He raced from a handy position that day and stayed on well at the business end. He would have got stronger in his time off the track and the son of Coup De Grace may be the one they all have to beat.

TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 5: ERIK THE RED (1)
Jockey: Fourie R - Trainer: Snaith J

ERIK THE RED is a speedy son of Captain Al from the Justin Snaith stable. He was an impressive winner of the Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes in his penultimate run and followed that up with another good victory in the Cape Nursery last time. He is having his first run after 15 weeks off the track, but is classy and should take a power of beating.

Race 7: PHIL'S DANCER (4)
Jockey: Fourie R - Trainer: Snaith J

PHIL'S DANCER showed good guts when winning her last start over seven furlongs on this course. She set the pace that day and found extra where it matters most. She jumps from a good draw of three and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should notch up her third career victory.

Race 8: SILVER HOST (1)
Jockey: Fourie R - Trainer: Snaith J

SILVER HOST may not have seen out the ten furlongs in the Cape Derby last time. He caught the eye when winning the Politician Stakes in his penultimate run over nine furlongs. The drop to the mile should not pose an issue as he has won over the distance in the past. Richard Fourie knows him well and the pair should get back to winning ways.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY

Race 4: BLACK KNAP (10)
Jockey: Noach O  - Trainer: Marshall V

BLACK KNAP is the value bet on this afternoon's card. Despite getting loose before the race last time and reported to have been cut into, he managed to run a creditable 3rd in his post maiden run. The manner in which the son of Dynasty won his maiden suggests that he has ability. He would have strengthened up during his time off the track and if not in need of the run, should be the one to cause the upset.
