Race 1
Ten of the twelve runners in this contest are first timers and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. SIBERIAN WINTER is a daughter of Rabada from the Michael Roberts yard. Stable jockey Rachel Venniker is booked to ride. If not in need of this outing, she should start her career on a positive note.
CAPE CAPRI is a daughter of Pomodoro from the Duncan Howells stable and Sean Veale is booked to ride. If not in need of this outing, she should give a good account of herself.
SYRIAN STEEL hails from the Carl Hewitson stable and Serino Moodley will do duty. If not in need of the run, she can finish in the placings.
Race 2
GROVEFIELD from the Yogas Govender stable won a good race at the second time of asking. He showed good speed and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Canford Cliffs is a progressive type and can follow up.
COLD SHINE was disappointing in the Listed WSB Summer Juvenile Stakes last time. His debut effort when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth catches the eye. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he is one of the leading contenders.
IBHELE ran a fair race in his last start over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If getting away to a clean start, he may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
Race 3
GORGEOUS GIRL has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She raced from a handy position last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Tomyris. The daughter of William Longsword meets the right field and Richard Fourie may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
FLORAL FANTASY stayed on when third over 1800m on the Polytrack last time. The daughter of Twice Over should be ideally suited to 1600m and if jumping on terms, she should pose a threat.
NTOMBENHLE finished 2.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. She will strip a much fitter horse and can earn another cheque for her patrons.
Race 4
RALPH THE RASCAL stayed on when fourth over 1400m on the Polytrack last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. He takes a drop in class and with the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew, he can return to winning ways.
RELEASE ME has fair recent form lines to his name. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. With luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
PAPA C is better than his last start over 1950m. He has won once and finished second twice from four starts over this C&D. On his previous form, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 5
AQUAE SULIS returns from a 15-week break which would have done her the world of good. Two of her six career victories have come on this course. She takes a drop in class and if not in need of this outing, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
KITTEN’S ADVENTURE ran on from last when second over this distance on the Polytrack last time. Jockey Cole Dicken is likely to adopt the same tactics from her wide draw of ten and she will be mowing down the frontrunners.
SHAKEN NOT STIRRED is much better than her last start over 1900m. She finished 0.9 lengths behind GELSOMINA in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
Race 6
MVULAZANA raced from a handy position over 1200m on the polytrack last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Morgan La Fay. Four of her five career victories have come over this distance. She meets the right field this afternoon and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she can go one better.
FABULOUS was in need of her comeback run over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. She is the stable elect with Rachel Venniker up and should strip much fitter. From pole position, she should find a form return.
SWEET SYMPHONY’S last two starts have been fair. She tries the 1400m and is interestingly the stable elect with Tristan Godden in the saddle. From her good draw of three, she can finish in the placings.
Race 7
KING OF THE GAULS challenged strongly when third in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If all went well with his travels back to KZN, he should be the one to beat.
HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE stayed on when fourth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 4kgs off his back and he is one of the leading contenders.
CABINET SHUFFLE showed some signs of a form return in his stable debut over 1200m last time. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies and if keeping on a straight line, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
EL DRAQUE is better than his last start against slightly stronger company. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 4kgs off his back and he may be the one to beat.
NORTHERN WARRIOR is a winner of his last two starts over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for his last victory. He is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
HAPPY WANDERER finished 2.75 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
