Race 1
CHERRY OH BABY produced an encouraging debut effort over 1160m on this course. She lost two lengths leaving the start, understandably raced green but stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that Hillary Step has come out and won again since. The daughter of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1600m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.
SPRINGER set the pace over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Green Bubbles. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
HAPPY MO should have finished closer to the winner last time as the saddle was reported to have slipped. She is a progressive type and cannot be ignored.
Race 2
PISTOL PETE is unbeaten from two starts to date. He raced from just off the pace last time, found a good kick and won with a ton in hand. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody has class about him and should keep his unbeaten record intact.
ADDRESS THE NATION finished 8 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is only 2kgs better off at the weights which is not enough for the tables to be turned. The son of One World may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
FIRE ATTACK won a good race when shedding his maiden tag last time. He finished 0.25 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 3
ALMOND SEA has won both of her races by 5.25 lengths. She showed good speed over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time and was geared down in the latter stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Canford Cliffs has class about her and should remain unbeaten.
SIMPLY MAJESTIC showed good speed over this C&D last time but found one too good in the form of Dantonfromsandton. She finished 6.5 lengths behind the top choice on debut. She is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.
JUST RECKLESS got up late to win her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If all went well with her travels, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4
SO SEDUCTIVE should have won her last start as she hung inwards in the closing stages. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Vercingetorix shows pace and she may be hard to peg back.
SECRET CHORD has consistent form lines to his credit. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
QUICK TRIP had excuses in her local debut over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. On her best form shown, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
HUMDINGER is better than her last two starts. Her effort when fourth over 1400m on this course, three runs ago catches the eye. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from nine starts over this distance. It is encouraging that Piere Strydom steps back into the saddle and on best form shown, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
LADY OF POWER should have finished closer in the Dr Richard Maponya Handicap last time as she received a bump at the 200m mark. It must be noted that Litigation has come out and won again since. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
PEACH DAIQUIRI returns from a 15-week break which may have done her the world of good. She will enjoy the return to the mile and with a bit of luck in running, she can feature.
Race 6
GIMME A NOTHER is unbeaten from five starts to date. She was super impressive when winning the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the extra furlong on offer. She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field once again and should win.
SILVER SANCTUARY finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. She should have no issues with the rise to 1800m and can complete the exacta.
BAVARIAN BEAUTY is better than her last start in the Non-Black Type Cape Racing Gold Rush. The daughter of Querari has plenty of class about her and from her good draw of four, she cannot be ignored.
Race 7
SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT was an easy winner of the Grade 2 TAB Gauteng Guineas last time. He quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. He would have come on from the run and should have no issues with the rise to 1800m. He does have a wide draw of ten to overcome, but gets the services of Gavin Lerena who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle. The son of Gimmethegreenlight should be the one to beat.
WILLIAM IRON ARM stayed on in his comeback run when 3.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He will love the extra distance on offer and merits healthy respect.
PURPLE PITCHER showed signs of needing his last start. He would have come on from the run. The son of New Predator won his only attempt over this C&D. From pole position, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
PRINCESS CALLA was an easy winner in the Grade 1 City Of Cape Town Majorca Stakes last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She has won twice and finished third once from as many starts on this course. The 6yo mare should be the one to beat.
MAIN DEFENDER should have won last time as he shifted away from the crop in the closing stages and bumped MELECH. He is unbeaten from three starts on this course and will enjoy the rise to the mile. With a bit of luck in running, he should be competitive.
PUERTO MANZANO stayed on when fourth over 1400m on this course last time. He has won twice and finished second four times from eight starts over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse and merits obvious inclusion.
Race 9
DYCE showed good speed when winning the Grade 1 World Pool Cape Flying Championship last time. It must be noted that Thunderstruck has come out and won since. He won his only attempt over this C&D, four runs ago. The 5yo horse is in a very good space and should notch up his eighth-career victory.
WILLIAM ROBERTSON has top recent form lines to his name. He rallied late when second over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. Five of his ten career victories have come on this course. He always gives of his best and merits healthy respect.
CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT finished 1.75 lengths behind RULERSHIP last time. He is 6kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is an honest horse and should be involved at the finish.
Race 10
JUDGEMENT DAY fought hard in his last start over 1800m but was touched off by Marauding Horde. The blinkers seem to have done the trick. The son of Just As Well should have no issues with the drop to 1600m and he can go one better in this field.
ROSSORE FINALE ran a good race when second over this distance on the Inside course last time. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. With luck in running, he can go close.
BLUE QUARTZ showed good improvement when third in her last start over 1200m. The daughter of Heavenly Blue will love the rise to the mile and with her handy galloping mass, she should give the males a run for their money
