Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Sunday 26th January where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
BINGO ran a decent race on debut over 800m on this course. The son of Rafeef would have gained from the experience. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena has been booked to ride. Unless one of the first timers have any ability, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
READ ALL ABOUT IT is an unraced son of Hawwaam from the Mike de Kock stable with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners and if not too green in running, he should give a good account of himself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.
POWER OF PEARLS is a daughter of Pathfork from the Candice Dawson yard with Craig Zackey in the irons. She is related to six-time winner Flower Of Saigon. If not in need of the outing, she should give a good account of herself.
Race 2
GREAT NOTION has consistent form lines to her credit. She received a bump leaving the start over 1160m last time, but stayed on to finish third. The daughter of Danon Platina steps back up to 1400m and she may be rewarded for consistency.
GIMME A STORM finished 0.1 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
DYLAN’S CHAMP has finished second in his last four starts. He tried hard over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. The son of Rafeef is expected to be the first male past the post. He is carded to race on 23 January 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 3
ROAMING SPIRIT is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1400m. Gavin Lerena rides from a good draw of four and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
MESSALINA raced from a handy position over this distance at the Vaal last time, but found one too good in the form of Spumante Dolce who has come out and won again since. If repeating that effort, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
CAPE SAFFRON produced an encouraging debut effort over this distance at the Vaal. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Flower Alley would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression.
Race 4
TRUTH was his own worst enemy over 1600m last time as he over raced in the early stages. The son of Heavenly Blue has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
FIRE ‘N FLAMES ran a good race when third over 1500m on the Vaal Classic course last time. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CYMRIC has good recent form lines to his credit. He was outrun late by Radicchio last time. Gavin Lerena is likely to take him to the front once again and he may be hard to peg back.
Race 5
SECRET CHORD finished 2.25 lengths behind VIBE SA last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from seven starts over this C&D. The son of Bezrin may be the one to side with.
VIBE SA followed up his maiden win with an impressive victory over this C&D. He received a seven-pound penalty for that victory. He is clearly in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.
VEGAS HI RISE stayed on when second over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If keeping on a straight line, he should be competitive.
Race 6
MY SOUL MATE showed very good signs of a form return when third over 1800m in the Listed 4Racing War Of Athena Handicap last time. She lost a length at the start but ran on well at the finish. The daughter of Master Of My Fate has no stamina issues and she may be the one to side with.
UNITED COUNCIL was an easy winner of her last start in the Non-Black Type Sun Chariot Handicap. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and she is one of the leading contenders.
EXPLOSIVE BOND found one too good in the form of None Other last time. She finished 7 lengths behind the second selection in her penultimate run. She is only 1kg better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned.
Race 7
SON OF RAJ ran a creditable race when third over 2000m at the Vaal last time. He has won once and finished third once from three starts over this C&D. The son of Duke Of Marmalade will strip much fitter. Despite carrying top weight, he has the class to win this race.
THUNEE PLAYA finished 1.7 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned.
RADICCHIO won a good race over 1400m on this course last time. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs which should assist his cause. If seeing out the 1800m, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
CARE FORGOT won a good race over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She showed a good turn of foot and won going away. The daughter of The United States faces a competitive field, but she carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and can follow up with another victory.
SLINKY MAPIMPI stayed on when third over 1475m in the Non-Black Type WSB Grand Heritage last time. It must be noted that Pomodoro’s Jet has come out and won again since. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CAPTAINOFTHEGREEN ran a fair race over 1800m last time. He finished 1.2 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result.
Race 9
SAMOA is better than her last start over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. The 10yo mare gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Girish Dookhit which will assist her cause. She is having her 100th career outing and on best form shown, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
KOMATI RIVER showed good speed when winning her maiden over this C&D last time. The daughter of Vercingetorix takes on stronger, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
PACIFIC stayed on when third over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course last time. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and he should be the first male past the post
