RACE 1

SPORTS FAN produced a promising debut effort over 800m on this course. She found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The well-bred daughter of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to side with.

FIERY COUNTESS showed good pace when second over 800m on debut. The daughter of Fire Away would have come on from the run and she is one of the leading contenders.

BONJOUR LA VILLE finished 0.25 lengths behind the second selection on debut. The daughter of William Longsword would have gained from the experience and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

RACE 2

SPLICETHEMAINBRACE won a good race in the Non-Black Type Aloe Stakes last time. The saddle was reported to have slipped that day which makes the victory that much more encouraging. She has won five times from six starts on this course. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is the class horse in this contest and she should take a power of beating.

CAN‘T SAY NO finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

STATE SECRET stayed on after a slow start over 1600m on this course last time. That was her first run in the Eastern Cape and she would have come on from the outing. The daughter of Act Of War jumps from pole position and she can finish in the first three.

RACE 3

PHIL THE FLUTER hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. He was a tad disappointing last time, but was reported to have made an abnormal respiratory noise that day. The son of Vercingetorix steps up to 1600m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

GENTEEL has fair consistent form lines to her credit. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

CLIFFIE CLAVIN returns from an 11-week break and is having his first run for Tara Laing. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and if settled into his new surroundings, he can show improvement.

RACE 4

GOLDEN PAVILION is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. He set the pace that day and fought back well to hold all challengers at bay. The son of Danon Platina is in a good space and he can bring up the hat-trick.

MASTER FORESTER was a beaten odds-on favourite in his last start over this C&D. He gets a change of headgear which may do the trick. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

DUBAI HILLS finished 4.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. He was reported to be not striding out that day. With a bit of luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 5

PROTECT THE DREAM won a good race over 1600m on this course last time. She raced from a handy position that day and kept finding all the way to the line. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. Despite her big mass of 62.5kgs, she should be the one to beat in this field.

KILMONIVAIG ran a fair race over 1200m on the polytrack last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If jumping on terms, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

QUEEN OF JAZZ stayed on when sixth over 1200m on this course last time. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from seven starts on this course. Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle and the combination cannot be ignored.

Race 6

CHERRY ANO was in need of his last start in the Non-Black Type Fairview 1900. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He has won five times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Capetown Noir gets the blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand. From his good draw of three, he may be hard to peg back.

UNDERWORLD returns from a 15-week break which may have done him the world of good. He finished fourth behind Snow Pilot last time. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and on best form shown, he should be competitive.

BUSH TRACKER ran a good race over this distance on the polytrack last time. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from eight starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he can finish in the money.

RACE 7

GIMME‘S LADDIE is better than his last start over this distance on the polytrack. He returns from a 13-week break which may have done him the world of good. He is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is the stable elect with Craig Zackey in the saddle. He carries a nice weight of 55kgs and can return to winning ways.

ANUSCHKA‘S WORLD has good consistent form lines to his credit. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was steadied at the 200m mark. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and is one of the leading contenders.

CLIFF TOP finished 3 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

RACE 8

KAROO GOLD should have finished closer to the winner last time. He had to be steadied at the 300m mark and switched for running room at the 250m mark. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He finished 0.25 lengths behind HAROLD THE DUKE, three runs ago. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

HAROLD THE DUKE finished 1.25 lengths behind NOTHINGELSEMATTERS last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

NOTHINGELSEMATTERS won a good race over 2400m on this course last time. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect
