Race 1 

QUASIKAT produced a promising debut effort over 1100m on this course. She lost a length at the start, but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She would have strengthened up during her time off the track and should give the males a run for their money.

TOKYO MEDAGLIA is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. He returns from an 18-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of William Longsword has scope and he is one of the leading contenders.

PENNSYLVANIA may not have seen out the 1400m on debut. The drop to 1200m should suit him well and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 2

CARS BIG AS BARS produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on the Classic course. She lost a length leaving the start that day, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of Pathfork would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1200m. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and she may be the one to side with.

ZALTA STAR showed very good improvement when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The daughter of Canford Cliffs is a progressive type and can pose a threat.

CYBER SPIRIT has shown some improvement in each of her outings to date. She finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

Race 3

CHIEFTAIN ran a fair race in the Grade 3 TAB Protea Stakes last time. He returns from a 24-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Vercingetorix would have strengthened up during his time off the track and he has scope. He shows good speed in his races and may be hard to peg back.

LONGSWORD took on stronger company in his last start over 1200m. His form prior to that outing was consistent. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

JOHN WICK has good recent form lines to his credit. He won his penultimate start over this C&D. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 4

CHAMPION WARRIOR showed good improvement in his last start over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. The son of Twice Over returns to Handicap Company and with Piere Strydom retaining the ride, he should be the one to beat.

TRIDENT KING ran a good race when third over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this distance. He will be mowing down the frontrunners.

FOSTINOVO finished 3.2 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

 

 

Race 5

AMERICAN REBEL was unlucky not to have won his last start over 1800m on the Classic course. He had no clear run up the straight. He finished third in his penultimate run over this distance. He takes a slight drop in class and with luck in running, he can return to winning ways.

FIFTH OF JULY finished 1.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

PANNING GOLD has good consistent form lines to his credit. He ran on from last when third over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

ALLMEWHENUNEEDME raced from a handy position over 1450m on the Classic course last time but did not go on with the effort. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 2.5kgs off her back and she may be the one to beat in this field.

IN THE BEGINNING is better than her last start in the Non-Black Type Betway The Lady’s Stakes. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Captain Of All will strip much fitter and she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

KINDRED HEART is better than her last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. She carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and if fit, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 7

POMODORO’S JET ran a fair race in the Grade 3 SplashOut 2200 last time. He returns from a 14-week break and is having his first run this season. He has won over this distance previously. The 6yo gelding runs well for Craig Zackey and if not in need of the run, he should be too good for this field.

ARGO ALLEY rallied late when winning his last start over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. He won his only attempt over this C&D. The blinkers have been re-fitted and he is one of the leading contenders.

SILENT WAR’S last three starts have been fair, the latest of which was in the Listed Betway Spring Spree Stakes. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist his cause. On best form shown, he should feature in this field.

Race 8

FRANCILIEN won a good race when shedding her maiden tag at the second time of asking over this C&D. The daughter of What A Winter takes on stronger, but she has plenty of scope and she can follow up with another victory.

PALACE DANCER was an easy winner at the second time of asking. She finished 1 length behind the top choice on debut. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

RAINING RUBIES showed good speed when winning her last start over this C&D. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Soft Falling Rain is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back
