Winning Form selections for racing from the Vaal on Tuesday 25th February where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is OLD FASHIONED from the Clinton Binda stable. He was his own worst enemy last time as he lost two lengths leaving the start and over raced in the early stages. His penultimate run when second over this distance on the Turffontein Standside course catches the eye. Kabelo Matsunyane is booked to ride and if jumping on terms, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
JUST JAZZED UP returns from a lengthy 53-week break. She was reported to be lame and coughing on debut. The daughter of Erupt would have strengthened up during her time off the track. If not in need of the run, she should be involved at the finish.
RINGHO ran a moderate race over 1160m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that Winds Of Change has come out and won again since. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should be competitive.
Race 2
LADY OF ARC showed some signs of needing her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. The daughter of Royal Mo has plenty of scope and with Ryan Munger retaining the ride, she may be the one to beat.
ACT ON SNOW is a progressive type and showed good improvement when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. Philasande Mxoli retains the ride and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GREEN EXTREME showed improvement in her last start over 1200m on this course. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight gets the tongue-tie fitted which should assist. There should be more to come from her.
Race 3
TAKE YOUR PLACE stayed on when sixth over 1200m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has won once and finished second three times from five starts over this distance. Her last victory came under Piere Strydom. The daughter of Bezrin will be mowing down the frontrunners.
GAELIC DANCER returns from an 11-week break and is having her first run for the Paul Matchett stable. The daughter of Querari takes a drop in class and if settled into her new surroundings, she should pose a threat.
TOGETHER AGAIN ran a good race when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The daughter of Elusive Fort is back against her own sex and she may be hard to peg back.
Race 4
JUST THE TWO OF US produced a strong finish when winning her last start over this distance at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She has won once and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. She is back against her own sex and can follow up. She is carded to race on 23 February 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
VIRGIN RIVER has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Vercingetorix merits healthy respect.
KIA KAHA finished second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Var has plenty of scope and she can feature.
Race 5
BANFF ran a good race when third over 1160m at Turffontein last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The son of The United States will love the rise to 1450m and from his good draw of two, he should be too good for this field.
POTBERRIE has some good recent form lines to his credit. He won his penultimate outing over this C&D. The son of Potala Palace is likely to race on the speed and he may be hard to peg back.
MISS LIA is better than her last start in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas. Her form prior to that outing was consistent. She won her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Talk Of The Town should give the males a run for their money.
Race 6
FRANCILIEN is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. She raced from just off the pace against male company last time, before getting outrun late. The daughter of What A Winter takes a drop in class and steps back up to 1450m. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
MISS SCALETTA showed good improvement in her last start over 1600m at Turffontein. She took the lead at the 300m mark before getting caught late by Queen Of Love. She should be ideally suited to 1450m and is one of the leading contenders.
POINTER is better than her last two starts after 21 weeks off the track. The daughter of Canford Cliffs will enjoy the rise to 1450m. Her last victory came under Gavin Lerena and she would not be a shock winner.
Race 7
KINSHIN SHA won his last start, but lost it in the boardroom as he carried Address The Nation outwards in the closing stages. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts on this course. If Craig Zackey is able to keep him on a straight line, he should be the one to beat.
BIG BOY BRUCE stayed on when third over 1000m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Rabada is one of the leading contenders.
SECRET CHORD’S last three starts have been good. He finished second in his only attempt on this course. He meets a similar type of field today and merits healthy respect.
Race 8
ORIENTAL BOUQUET showed some signs of a form return in her last start over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course. The daughter of Danon Platina has dropped in the ratings. She is having her peak run today and with a bit of luck in running, she can return to winning ways.
WRITTEN IN STONE is better than his last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. He won a good race in his penultimate start over this C&D. If finding the form of that run, he should be involved at the finish.
SAIL THE SKY ran a good race when second over 1400m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He finished 3 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
