BettingDiaryThe Brumbies host the Western Force in Canberra on Saturday for the right to meet the Reds in the Grand Final next weekend. We take a look at the game from a betting angle.

Let's start with a look at the Outright Betting where confirmed finalists the Reds are 4/6 favourites with the Brumbies 13/10 and the Force remain rank outsiders at 18/1.

The Brumbies are coming off a bye having secured second spot on the table behind the Reds who beat them by 2 points both home and away. Their last action was a 26-20 win over the Rebels in Melbourne and at home they beat the Force by 28, the Rebels by 3 and the Waratahs by 51.

The Force pulled off a stunning victory against the Reds at home last week winning 30-27 to book their spot in the playoff. They had previously beaten the Waratahs 31-30 at home with the final kick coming after the hooter and prior to that they had edged the Rebels, by one point, on the road. In other away matches this season they lost to the Waratahs by 4 and the Reds by 7 so the only big defeat came against the Brumbies in Canberra.

When these sides meet in Perth earlier this season the Brumbies won by 16 and last season in Canberra it was the Brumbies who came out on Top by 17 points.

Brumbies 1/6

Draw 33/1

Western Force 11/2

Handicap: Brumbies (-15.5) at 9/10, Western Force (+15.5) at 9/10

Suggested Bet: High Scoring Half, First-Half at 1/1

The handicap looks fairly well set and I feel myself turning to the other markets on offer. I expect the Brumbies to make a fast start and points to flow in the first-half but can see a scenario where they become defensive in the second-half content to defend their lead.
