Betway Premiership action continues in midweek and our focus is on Tuesday’s clash between Sekhukhune and Sundowns and Wednesday’s game between Marumo Gallants and Kaizer Chiefs
Sekhukhune v Sundowns
Sekhukhune have played 2 league games since the resumption of the Betway Premiership, both were home games and they lost 1-0 to Stellenbosch prior to a 0-0 draw with Pirates. After topping the log earlier in the season a run of 1 win in their last 8 league games (alongside 4 draws and 3 defeats) has seen them slip to fifth in the standings, only 3 points behind the league leaders but they have played 1 game more than Sundowns and 2 more than Pirates.
Sundowns return to action in top spot in the standings but only courtesy of a better goal difference than second placed Pirates who also have a game in hand. Following the mid season break Downs only league game delivered a 2-0 home win over Orbit College and last Friday they played out a 2-2 draw with Al Hilal in the Caf Champions League where they also top their group ahead of that opposition on goal difference with 1 win and 2 draws against their name. Downs are unbeaten in their last 9 in all competitions and since their only league defeat of the season away to Golden Arrows they have won 3 and drawn 2 of 5 Betway Premiership outings.
The Verdict:
This will be the first meeting between the sides this season although Downs have won 7 and drawn 1 of the last 8 PSL meetings. Sekhukhune battle to score more than 1 goal in a game and in fact have only scored 5 in their last 9 league outings. However the other side of the coin is that have yet to concede more than one goal in any of the fixtures.
I’ll side with Sundowns to edge it by a single goal margin.
Bet: Winning margin Sundowns by 1 goal exactly at 2.35/1 with Betway
Marumo Gallants v Kaizer Chiefs
To say Gallants are finding wins hard to come by in an understatement. After winning their first 2 matches on the Betway Premiership season they have added just one more three point haul to their tally and are without a win in their last 5. On the plus side they are unbeaten in 6 home games, 2 wins and 4 draws but with 15 points they are only 4 better off than bottom of the log Magesi.
Third placed Chiefs have 27 points, 2 off the pace being set by Sundowns and Pirates but they have played one game more than the Bucs. Chiefs are unbeaten in their last 8 league games although 5 of those were drawn. They returned from the mid season break with a 1-0 home win over Golden Arrows and they have kept a clean sheet in 5 of their last 6 league games.
The Verdict:
When Chiefs hosted Gallants in the first league meeting this season on the 24th September the game finished all square at 1-
When Chiefs hosted Gallants in the first league meeting this season on the 24th September the game finished all square at 1-1. Gallants have battled to keep clean sheets which is something that Chiefs are getting better at and that tips the scales in favour of the visitors.
