Our featured Betway Premiership matches taking place on Saturday see Polokwane City host Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns visit Chippa United.

Polokwane City vs Kaizer Chiefs

After opening their Betway Premiership campaign with a 2-1 win at Richards Bay Polokwane City have found wins hard to come by. They have drawn both home fixtures so far, at home to Setllenbosch (3-3) and Milford FC (0-0). They also picked up a point with a 2-2 draw at Marumo Gallants last time out whilst their one league defeat came against Sekhukhune (2-0). With 6 points from 5 matches Polokwane come into the weekend program in tenth position.

Chiefs are unbeaten with 3 wins and 2 draws from their first 5 league games and at the time of writing they are in third spot, 8 points off the pace being set by Sundowns but with two games in hand and 2 points behind Pirates who have also played just the 5 matches. Chiefs made the perfect start with wins away to Kruger United (3-1) and at home to Sekhukhune (2-0. After that they drew 1-1 at home to Sundowns and then had to settle for a 2-2 draw away to Richards Bay. In midweek Chiefs were 3-2 winners against Siwelele at Dobsonville.

The Verdict

Chiefs probably deserve the favourites tag on form but what concerns me is just the 1 clean sheet in 5 league games. Polokwane are hard to assess and the scorelines in their 3 draws read 0-0, 2-2 and 3-3 so the goal markets are also tough to way up.

I’m going to go with Chiefs to win by a margin of 1 goal exactly but it’s a tentative call.

Bets: Winning margin, Chiefs by 1 goal exactly at 23/10 with Lucky Fish

Chippa United vs Sundowns

All the Betway Premiership teams have played at least 5 matches and 5 clubs are still looking for their first win. Chippa United are one of them but they have picked up 4 draws and their only defeat came against Pirates (3-0) who always seem to get the better of them. The draws came at Golden Arrows and most recently Milford FC (both 0-0) and earlier games against Richards Bay and Siwelele both ended 1-1.

Sundowns have been stealing a march on their title rivals in terms of numbers of games played and they have been turning into points to scoot clear at the top of the standings. Coming into the weekend Downs have a record of 6 wins and 1 draw and they are 6 points clear of Pirates and 8 better off than chiefs although both those sides have played 2 games fewer.

The only dropped points came in a 1-1 draw at chiefs in their second league outing and 3 of their 6 wins came with a clean sheet including a 3-0 victory over Siwelele in midweek. Downs have also rattled in 18 goals in the league and they have also made it through to the MTN8 Final where they will face off with Orlando Pirates.

The Verdict

At 1 / 4 to win the game Sundowns are the shortest price on the weekend coupon and it’s hard to argue with those odds on current form. Chippa have at least kept the points tally ticking over but I’m with sundowns to win this, 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0.

Bets: Multi Correct Score 0-1,  0-2 or 0-3 at 9/10 with Lucky Fish
