Race 1 Green Gateway - was originally going to stick with Better Man who a few of us backed on July Day when it finished like a train over this trip after being punted off the boards but didn't get up. Not sure that was KdM's finest hour in the saddle tbh. Green Gateway was also in the same race and has a length to find with Better Man but he he was very awkward at the start and whilst watching the replay it's the explosive finish of Better Man that takes the eye, Green Gateway has actually come from last at one stage and isn't far off. Also thinking GG is more unexposed after a just 7 runs or so. Win and also taking 4 places to cover the stake
Green Gateway at 7.14/1 to win and even money to run in the top 4 at Lucky Fish

Enflame scratched from the Gold Cup, price was around 14/1 I think.
First 5 races covered in this preview with the balance to follow. In addition to Green Gateway in Race 1, quite like Benny and Paul 14/1 and 17/10 for a top 4 finish in Race 3.

Vaal Workriders:
Race 1 - Caladrius (7/10) should win this by a few lenghts. Swingers with Platinum Shay (18/1), who has run 5-6 lenghts behind Alice B Toklas and Secretary Bird before. Sam Mosia always one to follow.
Race 2 - Astrophile (9/20) to complete a quick double for Mongqawa/Peter. Good debut behind Trompe L'oeil. Third horse in that raced ran unplaced yesterday, but that was at Scottsville.
Race 4 - Life and Letters (15/4) Third run after a rest, placed over C&D before. Trainer/jockey combo one to follow. Hope the favorite runs 2nd again.
Race 6 - Meghan's Diamond (11/10) - Good local debut behind Hoc Est Vita, who is carded to run in a GR2 on Gold Cup Day.
Race 7 - Beach Walker (15/2) runs well for Tom Lukhele. Swingers with well bred Glastonbury Fire (12/10), who steps up in trip.
Many at short prices, play with caution.

Turffontein Saturday:
Race 1 - Campo Formio backed from 10/1 into 5/1
Race 3 - Deception Pass (7/1) - Down to a more suitable trip and better weighted today.
Race 7 - Cape Saffron (15/2) - Consistent form, worth an e/w bet.
Race 8 - Clouds Clearing (25/1) - Steps up to a more suitable trip. 27/10 for a top 4 placing not bad at all.

Race 3 - Havoc (10/1) - Finished well behind Mordechai in his last run. Must be a runner receiving 4kgs from the first 4 in the betting.
Race 6- Devil A Saint (28/10) - Running well off his current rating. Heavily backed when runner up last run.
Race 7 - Star World (28/10) - Two wins and three places over C&D. Runs well for Fourie

Race 1 - Better Man (15/4) - Well in at the weights, flew from just too far back on July Day. Major Master (20/1) is a nice roughie for Swingers if he can reproduce his run in a Gr 3 back in December.
Race 2 - Sticking with Ocean Mistress (17/2) who just had too much to do at the 400m last time out. Badly drawn again, but with a bit more luck should be right there. No value in backing Palace of Avernia @ 11/20. Lady Harlequin (18/1) has seen the course and is another, who with a bit of luck can finish in the money. Fourie fancies Ferrari Flair (7/1). QT Box 1x3x6x11
Race 3 - With Chris on Benny & Paul (7/1). Unfortunately missed the earlier price. Strong formlines and fancied by the stable since day 1. World Series (19/1) is a top horse and had excuses when still finishing well in strong company his last 3 races. Fourie does fancy US Ranger (15/4). Favorite hasn't seen Greyville before and not for me. SW 6x13x8
Race 4 - Hard to look pass Alice B Toklas (5/10) now that the stable mate is out. Royal Tiara (9/1) and Viking Lass (14/1) not without a chance for those looking to take the favorite on.
Race 5 - Quite a few with chances here. I'm going for Red Spice (8/1), who despite a wide draw, has done it against the best before. 1600m won't be a problem. Swingers with Bachata (16/1) who was bumped last time out and still finished well for third behind Viking Leader. I think this horse is heading for the top and will be one to follow for the upcoming Cape season. SW 11X13.
Race 6 - Tenango (5/1), top run on July Day. 3rd run after a rest, will be cherry ripe today from a good draw. Exactas with Questioning (26/10), who is having a top season.
Race 7 - King Pelles (29/20) or wide in the P6. Banker for me.
Race 8 - See It Again (25/10) is reported to be working up a storm again. Primed for this race. Last years winner, Gladatorian (7/1), is always in the frame on his home turf. Legal Council (9/1) can't be left out. A repeat of his runs in the Met and Gold Challenge earlier, makes him another massive runner. SW 2x3x6.
Race 9 - Places on Kisshoten (33/1), who was far from disgraced behind Quickstepgal in the Garden Province Stakes. 13/2 for a top 3 place, 15/4 for a top 4 place, 23/10 for a top 5 place. Swingers with Minogue (7/1), who finished runner up in both starts over 2000m. The run behind Wish List was tops. SW 1x10
Race 10 - Open race. Symphony in White (33/1) returns from a rest and is another with a wide draw to overcome. She ran under a length second behind Asiye Phambili in December. Must have a better chance than her odds suggest if ready for this race. Quantum Theory (16/1) has a massive weight swing with African Pride and could surpise in the lucky last.
P/A 6,8,13 x 3 x 4,11,13 x 2,11 x 6 x 2,3 x 1,3,10 = R108
P6 7 x 1,2,3,4,7,11,13,14 x 2,4,7,11 x 6 x 1,2,3,6 x 1,2,3 = R336
Wide P6 - 4,7,10 x 1,2,3,4,7,11,13,14 x 2,4,7,8,11 x 5,6,7,9,11,12 x 1,2,3,6 x 1,2,3,6,8 = R 14 400 (1% @ R144)

limited involvement from me today, just too tight on time -
R1 - Zeitz @ 5/1 (hoping for bigger closer to race time). Will stick with after july run, back down in trip, poor draw but hoping he's been kept fresh.
R2 - Ferrari Flair @ 10/1 ew. jockey strike and gets 1kg to 2.5kg from most field being a maiden.
R3 - Kudikaran @ 25/1 ew. only one in field to bump the next big superstar in sa racing last time out, will give him a shout in this field.
R4 - Alice B Toklas hard to oppose.
R5 - The Bronx Bull @ 66/1 ew weighted to plc. Not sure if he will be a miler but the price seems way off here given yard red hot.
R6 - still unsure, tricky race.
R7 - Holding Thumbs @ 10/1 ew. King Pelles i do like after backing him in July but i don't like the july to gold cup route, tough on a horse. Hoping HT bounces back to best today.
R8 - no bet for me, will just enjoy race.
R9 - Beach Verse @ 10/1 ew, if improves on last run behind wish list is a huge runner. My best ew of day.
R10 - King of the gauls @ 16/1, no strong feel, just know owner likes getting fourie on board for a big run.
